Updates for all providers
This blog brings together what we’ve heard so far and shares where we’re heading next as we continue to co-design a regulatory approach that works for everyone.
"Over the past few months, we’ve been on the road—meeting providers across the country to hear what’s working, what needs to improve, and how we can build a better approach to regulation together.
From Manchester to Bristol, your feedback has been clear: you want more transparent communication, fairer and more consistent assessments, better digital tools, and stronger, more collaborative relationships with inspection teams.
We’re listening—and we’re acting. Your insights are directly shaping our new assessment framework, the technology behind it, and how we work with you going forward".

We’re making progress on our journey to deliver stronger, more effective regulation.
Since April, we’ve completed over 2,100 assessments—keeping us on track to meet our target of 9,000 by September 2026. We’re working closely with providers and stakeholders to improve our assessment approach, based on your feedback and external reviews. And we’re strengthening leadership with new chief inspectors to bring sharper sector focus and accountability.
The first few months as a newly registered provider are important — and we want to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
We’re inviting you to complete a short survey to help the CQC improve its welcome communications. Your feedback will guide how we share key information, offer practical support, and signpost essential resources during the early stages of registration.
By taking part, you’ll be helping us create a more useful, relevant, and supportive onboarding experience for all new providers.
The survey takes just a few minutes to complete — thank you for sharing your views.
The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.
The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.
Help spread the word by sharing this with your colleagues. A toolkit is available to support your outreach.
Help people access support with the cost of NHS prescriptions and dental treatment by sharing and displaying promotional resources.
The NHS Business Services Authority has developed communications toolkits with information about available schemes and who is eligible.
By sharing these resources, you can help people understand what support they may be entitled to—and avoid receiving a penalty charge notice.
People can also check their eligibility using the online eligibility checker.
NHSmail has been renamed to NHS.net Connect. Your existing secure service, email address, and login details will stay the same, but the new service will offer a fresh look and enhanced features to support your daily work. You will continue to receive the same support from the National Administration Service (NAS).
Over the coming months, you will move to the new Launchpad, which will replace the NHSmail portal and become your personalised homepage for:
- Managing your NHS.net profile and password
- Handling shared mailboxes and user access (via NAS)
- Accessing Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and more — all in one place
- Getting fast, step-by-step support
- Using NHS.net Connect across desktop and mobile devices
You do not need to take any action right now. Updates will come from no-reply.nhsnetconnect@nhs.net.

Help shape the future of adult social care - The adult social care workforce survey is now open to everyone in care-related roles, regardless of setting, role or experience. Your insight on challenges like working conditions, training and capacity will directly inform a government report shaping policy and support for the sector.
This is your chance to influence decisions on funding, staffing and development. If you’re a manager, commissioner or in a leadership role, please share the survey with your teams. Download Skills for Care’s resource pack to help spread the word. Complete the survey and find out more
The survey is being conducted by trusted experts, Skills for Care and Ipsos on behalf of the Government’s Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
