In a new blog CQC's Director of Engagement, Chris Day, talks about the importance and value of involving a wide range of voices in our work.
"As we make each change it’s important to hear from a range of voices — both providers and people using services — to make sure our changes work well"
From 31 May 2023, providers who meet certain criteria will start to see an improved process for cancelling their registration.
This will initially be open to those who are registered with us as an organisation (not a partnership or individual) and have only one registered location and one registered manager.
Providers meeting these criteria will have to provide less information to us and can expect to see a reduction in rejection rates. It will also be easier for us to process, due to improved information quality and will save us time.
Find out more information about what’s changing and guidance on eligibility on the cancel your registration page on our website.
This is an early step in improving the experience of providers when they interact with us. We’ll build on this throughout the course of the year.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement is one of the quality statements in our new single assessment framework, sitting under our caring key question.
We want to hear the perspective of providers and professionals working in health and social care; the organisations that represent them; and wider stakeholders on workforce wellbeing.
We want to explore ‘what good workforce wellbeing looks like’ and hear people's experiences of successes and challenges related to looking after their workforce.
Share your views in the short survey below.
NOTE: We haven't yet published full provider guidance that describes our new regulatory approach. This will be published in advance of us implementing these changes and shared with all providers.
Later this year we'll be implementing a new regulatory approach based on a new single assessment framework, the framework includes a quality statement on environmental sustainability.
Through our regulatory approach, our inspectors may consider how providers have made efforts to become more environmentally sustainable.
To support the development of our work in this area we have organised a series of focus groups, each specific to professionals from a specific sector in health and social care.
Sign up to share feedback on your understanding and experience of incorporating environmental sustainability into your work and help us to appropriately introduce this focus into our new regulatory approach.
We are looking for volunteers from organisations who have 5 or more locations and have various people involved in the process of drafting, reviewing and submitting notifications to take part in research.
If this applies to your organisation, are you available between the 12 - 15 June for 45 minutes to give feedback on new Provider Portal designs?
If you're interested please get in touch.
We are now seeking expressions of interest from ICSs who wish to volunteer to take part in the pilot assessments.
Of the ICSs that express interest in being part of the pilot assessments, we will select using the following categories to generate a sample:
- Geographical locations
- Rural Urban classification
- Indices of deprivation
- NHS oversight framework segmentation (1 – 4)
- Consideration of CQC Local Authority Assessment Pilots
To avoid creating unnecessary additional pressures for ICSs and to make sure key people are available during the assessment period of the pilots, we will undertake a review of other regulatory activity taking place between August and December 2023 before we confirm pilot suitability. If your ICS would like to volunteer for the pilot assessments, please confirm your interest no later than 21 June 2023. Please provide the following information:
- Agreement from the Integrated Care Board and Integrated Care Partnership for participation
- ICS point of contact: name, job role and contact information.
When we have selected ICSs for the pilot, we will contact the named person directly to discuss any queries and to confirm inclusion.
To express your interest, please email: CQCintegratedcaresysteminformation@cqc.org.uk
There are ongoing opportunities to shape how CQC works on our digital engagement platform CitizenLab.
