Food2care

About the offer: Food2care is an initiative that is working with the Federation of Wholesale Distributors to support care providers to get access to food supplies, with a website that provides details of local wholesale food distributors offering their service to care providers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Eligibility: The website provides a postcode-based search function to identify local wholesalers and their delivery areas.

NHS Volunteer Responders Service

About the offer: NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS and the care sector during the COVID-19 outbreak. Members of the public have signed up to volunteer and support their communities via a number of different roles.

Who is it for: Community Response Volunteers are available to help collect shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who cannot shop for themselves, and deliver these supplies to them. Care providers are able to access this support on behalf of their residents to complement their existing mechanisms for purchasing food and essential supplies.

How to use the offer: 

  1. Consider the amount of shopping a volunteer will be able to collect and deliver.
  2. Visit the online portal https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHSreferral or make your request via the phone line - 0808 196 3382
  3. Enter your details in the organisation box at the beginning of the referral form and the volunteer will contact you to arrange the details of the task
  4. Volunteers are observing social distancing measures and will need to be informed of a place shopping can be delivered that conforms to these measures.

Iceland

About the offer: Iceland is offering care staff regular access to dedicated online weekly shopping slots. These are every Friday from 9am to 11am, for deliveries the following Monday.

Who is it for: Adult social care employees. 

How to use the offer: 

  1. Register for an account on Iceland’s website: https://www.iceland.co.uk/account/register.
  1. Go to the ‘My Account’ area.
  2. Select the ‘personal passphrase’ option and enter your personal passphrase (made up of three words) that will be sent to you by your employer.
  3. Visit the Iceland website on Fridays between 9am and 11am to access priority shopping and delivery slots.

Troubleshooting:

Morrisons

About the offer: The supermarket chain Morrisons have developed food boxes (with meat or vegetarian). These contain groceries to feed two adults for a week and other essential household items. The boxes are priced at £30 each and have free delivery for NHS and social care staff (equivalent of £5 discount). 

Eligibility: The offer is available to everyone with an NHS email account. See below for details.

Blue Light Card

About the offer: The Blue Light Card offers a range of online (and in-store) discounts across retailers including food, telecoms and insurance. 

Eligibility: Available to all NHS and social care staff for a cost of £4.99 for 2 years. 

How to use the offer: 

  1. Provide your home address
  2. Upload a piece of ID to the website
  3. Enter a work address for the card to be posted to
  4. Employer distributes the card to the employee on receipt.

Discounts for Carers

About the offer: Discounts for Carers offers a range of online (and in-store) discounts across retailers in several sectors (e.g. food, utilities, finance, motoring). It also offers a cashback card that allows members to save up to 12% across 50 popular retailers. 

Eligibility: Discounts are available to all carers including: employees, self-employed, retired, unpaid or volunteer carers.
