State of Care 2018/19 published
Earlier this month we published State of Care, our annual assessment of health care and social care in England.
This year we found that most of the care we saw is good quality and, overall, quality is improving slightly.
But we also found that many people struggle to get access to the care they need. Problems with accessing care can mean people are pushed into inappropriate care settings, increasing pressure on emergency departments and, in the worst cases, leading to people in crisis or with the wrong kind of care.

Visiting someone in a care home
For anyone living in a care home, it's important to be able to welcome a partner, relative or friend, just as they did before they started lived there.
We've updated our information about visiting people to highlight consumer rights. These help make sure people are treated fairly and protected if things go wrong - but many people aren't aware of how they apply in social care.
