State of Care: evaluating the impact of our report
This year’s State of Care report shows that most health and
adult social care services in England are providing people with safe, high
quality and compassionate care, but it also raises concerns about the

We are now

Provider Information Return software upgrade
We have recently upgraded our software to improve the security and technical support of our systems. If you have problems with your link to a Provider Information Return, please try accessing
it in an alternative browser. Once you have started to complete the form, please don’t share the link, as for data security the system will remove the information you’ve entered.
Information for people on their visiting rights in care homes
We have published information for people living in care homes, their family and friends, clarifying their visiting rights and our expectations of providers who are responsible for ensuring people are supported to maintain relationships that are important to them. You can read more on our website.
Be aware - bogus inspectors
Some providers have recently been contacted by people posing
as CQC inspectors. Read our guidance here on how to check the identity of an inspector.
Fees consultation
We recently published our consultation about the fees we propose to charge registered providers in 2017/18. The proposals follow the plans we set out last year to continue to meet the Treasury’s requirement to recover our chargeable costs in full from providers. You can find the consultation document and how to respond using our online form, which is open until noon on 11 January 2017, by visiting our website.
