Coventry City Council is making steps to become a more active workforce. We are asking other workplaces to join us and be part of a movement to be more active at work. See the current activities taking place that you are welcome to come along to.

Go for a stroll walking maps

A series of walking maps have been created to show how easy it is to fit exercise into daily life. They provide short, easy routes around Coventry and cover the areas of Tile Hill and Canley, Willenhall, Foleshill and the city centre.

The walking maps are available for download and are available to view at the library.

Deskercise

Our body dislikes staying still for long. The longer you’re still the more tension that accumulates from being in one position. Try some desk based posture, exercises and stretches.

Stoptober resources now available

30 September to 31 October

Stoptober’ is a campaign from NHS Smokefree which will encourage smokers across England to stop smoking for 28 days during October. If smokers can stay smokefree for this time, they are five times more likely to stop for good. 

During Stoptober, there will be lots of support to help people on their quitting journey including a Stoptober pack, a text support service and an even an app for real-time support.

National Cholesterol Month

1 October to 31 October

 

National Cholesterol Month is a fundraising and awareness campaign for HEART UK. 

The main event this year is The Great Cholesterol Challenge which encourages people to adopt a new healthy habit such as taking more exercise, eating more healthily, giving up smoking, losing weight etc and getting sponsored for it. 

There are also other ways to get involved.

Breeze Challenge event for women

5 October

Hundreds of people are booking on to this new British Cycling event, which offers women a choice between a 50km and 100km challenge ride around the Warwickshire lanes. There’ll also be a short free guided ride along the Kenilworth Greenway.

Race Fit training programme

Considering taking part in an organised 5k, 10k, or even a half marathon next year but not sure how to prepare?

The 10 week course combines core conditioning training with group jogging sessions and will cater for EVERYONE OF ALL ABILITIES and build you up to 30 minutes and more of continuous running. We meet at the Massey Ferguson Social Club on Mondays at 6.15pm.
