Hello, we hope you are well and enjoying the cooler weather. This month's bulletin has a mixture of activities and events for you to get involved in. These range from support for those caring for someone with Dementia, Myton Hospice's carers group, an energy support session and a new group from Sky Blues in the Community.
Carers Trust are holding their annual Carers Awards and nominations ae now open, so please do take a look and get your vote in. They are also holding an event to to raise awareness of Mental Health support across the city.
We would like to draw you attention to our next co-production sessions focussing on our Carers Strategy. See below for further information and the up and coming dates. We look forward to welcoming you.

 Coventry Carers Strategy 2026 to 2031 - continuing the conversation. Co-design the Carers Strategy.
Following on from our successful co-production session on Thursday 20 August 2026, we would like to invite you to two further meetings.

Are you passionate about making a difference? Join us to share your experiences, contribute your ideas and help share the priorities for our new Carers Strategy. We want to have your voice at the table.

For those of you who may be interested in wider conversations about Adult Social Care we hold a regular Adult Social Care Stakeholders group, this is an opportunity to hear and discuss updates and improvements in Adult Social Care. If you are interested in attending please send us an email.
Carer's Trust Heart of England are delighted to announce that we will once again be hosting our annual Carer Awards Ceremony this November.
The Carer Awards is an opportunity for the local community to come together to celebrate the selfless work of not only carers but also the businesses, educational organisations and fundraisers that have gone above and beyond to help support carers and those they care for. Please remember that you can nominate individuals and organisations from both Coventry and Warwickshire.
We are excited to reveal our award categories for this years ceremony; you can take a look on our website for further details and to submit your nominations. The categories range from Young Carer, Carer of the year, Carer Friendly Employer and Carer Friendly School or College of the Year, amongst others.
The window to nominate closes on 30 September. We will be confirming date, time and location for the ceremony, shortly.

As part of the session, you’ll also be able to pick up free energy saving and winter warmth items such as:

Do you care for someone who has moved in to a care home, or could this be a possibility in the near future?
Join our friendly peer support group to meet others in your situation and share your thoughts.
We are meeting at a new venue in the Belgrade Theatre Café on the first Wednesday of the month from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
Our next meeting is taking place on Wednesday 2 September.

A local ‘dream team’ completed the 90ft Coventry Cathedral Charity Abseil on Saturday 1st August 2026, which takes place just once a year. The event raised vital funds for Carers Trust Heart of England and other charities.
Every day, unpaid carers across Coventry and Warwickshire provide invaluable support to family members and friends. By taking on this challenge, the fundraisers have helped raise awareness and vital funds to ensure carers receive the advice, services and support they deserve.
Spaces were limited and five spots were allocated to the regional charity. Set against the iconic backdrop of Coventry Cathedral, participants took on the thrilling annual challenge of abseiling down one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, all while supporting local carers who provide essential, unpaid care to family members and loved ones. Last year, the Coventry Cathedral abseil event raised over £50,000 for local charities, demonstrating the power of community support and participation.

A FREE 6 session therapeutic support group just for you.
Many people caring for both an older relative and their own children don’t think of themselves as a “carer” at all: Just a daughter, son, husband, or friend doing what needs to be done.
“Sandwiched between caring for an Adult often a parent whilst looking after your own children or young relatives at the same time”.
What: 6 session Closed Dementia Therapeutic Support Group
When: Tuesdays for 6 consecutive weeks. Begins 8 September from 7pm to 9pm. Refreshments provided.
Where: Coventry & North Warwickshire Sports Club, Binley Road, Coventry CV3 1HB
Registration is essential as spaces are limited.

Are you a carer looking after someone with a life-limiting illness?
Would you like to attend our 5-week 'Listening Ear' carers support group?
Our person led group is facilitated by trained nurses and volunteers and provides a safe space outside your circle of family and friends where you can speak honestly.
It is an opportunity to gain support from others in the same situation as you. The group is held at all 3 Myton Sites in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick on Fridays from 10am to 11:30am.
All support provided is free of charge and no referral is needed. We are here to help you!

The topic for our next session is Eating and Drinking, which includes information and support on appetite and dementia, drinking, hydration and dementia, changes in eating habits and food preference and supporting someone with dementia to eat and drink.
Our Carer information session can support you by giving you strategies and guidance to help you to respond in a supportive way, helping to keep up their confidence and help them to cope with the misunderstanding.

The Recovery and Wellbeing Academy offers a wide range of trauma informed courses and workshops designed to empower your mental health and wellbeing, provided by a number of Partner organisations working together. Courses are delivered face to face and via online group sessions and are completely FREE OF CHARGE.
The courses are open to anyone over the age of 18 living in Coventry and Warwickshire who wants to better manage or understand their health and wellbeing.
They provide a range of courses and below are a sample of what you can expect.

Sky Blue Minds plays a key role in physical activity, and social connection to improve mental health and wellbeing across local communities. Through accessible and inclusive activities, the program helps reduce health inequalities, strengthen community resilience, and create a greater sense of belonging.

SignVideo is a video relay service that Coventry City Council are now using to connect Deaf customers with Adult Social Care Direct. SignVideo enables those Deaf customers to connect to a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter, who then places a call to the Adult Social Care Direct phone number.
We recognise Deaf BSL users are a distinct language group with its own form of communication and are keen to use any means possible to promote the service, so please tell friends and family if you think they would benefit
