Welcome to the third Cycle Coventry newsletter of 2026.
 We are pleased to announce that our bookable child cycle training sessions will return with new venues from 25 July 2026.
There are also drop-in training sessions at the Xcel Centre.
SEN (Special Educational Needs) focused sessions will take place at Coventry Cycle Speedway in Hearsall Common, while mainstream provision will be offered at the Families for All Hub in Edgwick Park.
Coventry Cycling Festival
If you can’t wait until 25 July, visit our Family Cycling Festival at Caludon Castle Park on Sunday 12 July, between 10am and 2pm.
The event will have drop-in cycling lessons and activities for children, however adults can also learn to ride.
More experienced cyclists will have the opportunity to follow a led ride along parts of Binley Cycleway.
Join us for a Family Fun Day full of cycling activities, open to all for a day of fun, games and activities.
What you can expect on the day:
- guided rides along Binley Cycleway
- learn to ride
- Dr Bike (get your bike fixed)
- Cycling Skills Sessions
- Paint Bike
- refreshments
 Creatures & Critters Family Festival
In Coundon, we're working with Coventry Peace Orchard to support their Creatures & Critters Family Festival on 22 August 2026, which starts from 1pm to 5pm.
The free event will also offer many opportunities for both children and adults to learn how to ride a bike.
There will also be guided cycle rides along the newly completed Coundon Park cycleway, giving people a chance to explore the route in a safe and friendly environment.
 At the event you can receive:
- free cycle maintenance service - minor repairs only
- led rides around the local area, including parts of Coundon Park Cycleway
Non-cycling activities will include:
- land art
- giant puppets
- bug mansions
- live music
- creative making

 Since our last newsletter, we’ve added more dates to our free programme of Dr Bike events.
Our expert mechanics can help you or someone you know keep riding, by sorting out those common annoying bike problems.
The Council wants the city centre to remain a safe and welcoming space for all.
To make this, a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is now in effect.
The current PSPO includes a ban on riding e-bikes within a part of the city centre, unless people have a reasonable excuse.
The council are looking to extend the existing PSPO by another three years, and to add restrictions on things like playing loud music.
