What is the SEND Local Offer?
The Children and Families Act of 2014, requires Coventry Local Authority to publish information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This is called the "SEND Local Offer" and should include (amongst other things!) information about:
- special educational, health care and social care provision;
- other educational provision;
- training provision;
- provision to assist in preparing children and young people for adulthood and independent living (such as finding employment or obtaining accommodation);
- arrangements for children and young people to travel to schools or post-16 education (including further education colleges, sixth form colleges, independent specialist providers and training providers) and;
- providers of relevant early years education.

As part of the ongoing review of the "Local Offer", we would like to hear the views of families across Coventry. Over the next few weeks there will be a number of opportunities to get involved.
If you would like to come along and discuss your views about SEND provision in Coventry, our SEND Engagement lead, Chris Firth, will be hosting a number of informal gatherings in June and July. This will be to help identify what is working well and not so well in the SEND system.

If you are unable to make any of the meetings, there are still ways to contribute to the review:
Are there any specific things that you think could improve the experience of your child/young person?
Use our general online survey which asks about your experiences of support in Coventry. This is an opportunity to say how you experience support across the SEND world, either within your child/young person's educational setting, in accessing health, or in the community.
Ordinarily Available (inclusive) Provision (OAIP) describes the strategies, adaptations and experiences that remove barriers to learning within an education setting’s existing resources for children and young people. This includes those with identified or suspected SEND.
We'd like to know a little bit more about families' experiences of support received in their educational setting through OAIP. If you would like to contribute, there is a short survey.
The "Local Offer" is intended to be for everyone to contribute to. Local Offer events will continue throughout the year. Depending on feedback, these are likely to focus on those topics/areas that may be causing the most concerns or confusion.
If you are not able to come and see us at one of the events, or complete the survey, you are welcome to send any thoughts via email. sendfeedback@coventry.gov.uk
If you are accessing the Local Offer website, you can also contribute any feedback at the bottom of each page.
