All schools will receive an email this week about the annual Coventry One Big Voice survey - our citywide opportunity for children and young people to share what life in Coventry is really like. Please keep an eye out as any schools who do not wish to participate need to actively opt out by Friday 24 October.
Let’s Talk Movement is a campaign to help shape a more active future for everyone in Coventry.
Over the next few weeks, residents are being asked to share their views on what helps them to be active – and what gets in the way.
Movement means different things to different people. It could be a walk in one of Coventry’s parks or green spaces, trying out a new sport, being active with your children or setting personal fitness goals.
Whatever being active looks like for you, feedback from as many people as possible will help to create a future for Coventry where movement is easier, more accessible and part of everyday life.
The insights gathered through this short survey will help develop a shared city-wide strategy to support physical activity and wellbeing across all communities.
All schools will receive an email this week with further information to send out to parents (and staff) – the more people we can get to complete the survey, the better. Please do look out for it – your help would be very much appreciated!
The annual consultation period for admissions policies started on 1 October 2025 and finishes on 31 January 2026. Therefore, if you wish to make any significant changes to your 2027/28 admissions policies (including supplementary information forms) or are due to consult due to reaching the seven years whereby you must consult even if there are no changes to the policy, you will need to ensure this is agreed by your governing bodies within the autumn term and consulted on for a minimum of six school weeks, beginning no later than the 8 December 2025 and ending by the 31 January 2026.
Emails will be sent to all Coventry Primary and Secondary Academy schools by the end of Friday 10 October 2025 to confirm the details regarding the process for your individual schools. Emails will also be sent to Community & Voluntary Aided Primary Schools to confirm any PAN changes or requests for the LA Admissions 2027/2028 policy.
Any questions please contact: admissionsconsultation@coventry.gov.uk
Details of all school consultations should be published on the individual schools' websites and sent to the above email address for the LA to review. These will then be made available as and when received to view on the Coventry City Council website at: www.coventry.gov.uk/admissions

Coventry Police Museum
Coventry Police have a rich history of working with schools and would like to further develop that relationship through the museum. They are looking to offer the following resources and opportunities that can be tailored to individual school requirements, all based on the needs of the curriculum with the content being cross curricular where appropriate. This can include:
- A tour round the museum (based at the Council House) looking at the development of equipment and some historical Coventry incidents
- Personal Safety talk involving all aspects of this subject
- Meet the Police. This would take the form of a question and answer session where pupils meet retired officers and ask all the questions that they have been wanting answered.
They also have an interactive board game promoting good citizenship that can be used and are open to helping with any other ideas that schools think of!
The key contact is Kevin Watson, a retired Police Officer currently helping to run the Museum. During the course of his service, Kevin was one of two School Liaison Officers who covered the city - a role he was in for nearly 10 years. He would be pleased to talk to any colleagues who may be interested in this offer to support work in school and can be contacted on 07811 779870.

Do you have any members of staff who would benefit from undertaking an NPQ?
The Autumn 2025 cohort will be their only opportunity this academic year.
NPQs are a great way to develop and retain your staff.
We are delighted to be working with UCL – the only university-led NPQ Ofsted Outstanding NPQ provider. NPQ face-to-face sessions are delivered locally by our expert facilitators who are all teachers who are currently serving or have recently served in the Coventry and Central Warwickshire area.
Is there funding available?
For some schools with high levels of disadvantage, there are funded scholarships available. Check on the DfE website to see if your school is eligible. There are also funded scholarship places for all participants regardless of school on NPQH and NPQSENCO.
We are expecting to run the full suite of NPQs locally starting from November 2025.
How to apply
Register now for an NPQ on the DfE website. Select UCL and your lead provider and Coventry and Central Warwickshire Teaching School Hub as your local delivery partner.
