The Centre for cities recently published a report titled: Checking out: The varying performance of high streets across the country. It estimates Coventry's ‘city centre high street vacancy rate’ at 12.7%. This ranks Coventry city centre as 29th highest out of the UK’s 63 largest cities and towns. Their analysis did include the area covered by the City Centre South development.

The Health Foundation published an analysis on geographic inequalities in premature mortality (deaths among people aged under 75) across England and Wales, including Coventry.
This report illustrates that premature mortality rates vary a lot across different parts of the country and shows that much of the variation is due to socioeconomic factors, ethnicity and being born outside the UK. Premature mortality in Coventry is higher than average, and much of the reason for this is due to these factors in the local population.
