Coventry Safeguarding Adults Board have developed an engagement survey to assess the level of understanding around adults accessing support and their experiences with accessing support. Please share the link widely with anyone living in Coventry – we want to hear your voices!

West Midlands Adult Safeguarding policy and procedures

The West Midlands multi-agency policies and procedures have been developed jointly by the fourteen West Midlands Safeguarding Adults Board / Local Authority areas. The aim being working together to introduce a consistent approach and practice within the adult safeguarding environment. We would like to raise attention to the West Midlands multi-agency policy for Safeguarding Adults around the West midlands. This document presents all the policies in place to ensure that multi-agency involvement in adult social care, and the procedures of how to put these policies into practice.

Fire safety learning event

Coventry Safeguarding Adults Board identified an additional need for information to be disseminated to agencies around fire safety, available resources and risks to vulnerable adults. This event was delivered by West Midlands Fire Service and took place on 26 June. 49 multi-agency professionals attended the session. It was also recorded and listed on the Board website.

Making Safeguarding Personal

Making Safeguarding Personal is a priority for the Coventry Safeguarding Adults Board. A number of resources have been developed to enhance professionals' understanding and knowledge around MSP. The Board has recently created a poster highlighting the importance of MSP and showcasing where useful resources can be found. Please share far and wide within your services to help us with the on-going promotion of Making Safeguarding Personal.

NHS Talking Therapies - Suicide helplines

NHS Talking Therapies – free NHS service to help people with symptoms of depression, anxiety, worry and low mood. Requires assessment and has a waiting list, but people can self-refer into the service and don’t need a GP referral.

CW Mind – Council-funded adult mental health support tailored to individual needs

Papyrus – 24/7 helpline for young people to talk about experiencing suicidal thoughts; Website includes a large number of useful resources for carers and professionals

CALM – support with different struggles and suicidal thoughts, operating a helpline, live chat and WhatsApp messaging every day from 5pm - midnight

Shout – 24/7 text-based messaging service to support with de-escalating stress, anxiety and suicidal thoughts

Kooth – app-based anonymous wellbeing support that offers a variety of wellbeing plans for young people – requires sign-up and disclosure of location (i.e. Coventry) as they only cover certain parts of the country

Wellbeing for Warwickshire – the website operates a 24/7 mental health and wellbeing line that is available to both Coventry and Warwickshire residents: 0800 616171

Violet Project – local organisation offering peer support for suicide bereavement and for self-harm

Amparo – specialised suicide bereavement support service for those impacted by suicide

Cruse – generalised bereavement support helpline service that runs nationally (various operating hours)

Samaritans – national 24/7 helpline and chat service providing a listening ear and help with suicidal thoughts

Help is at Hand – government issued booklet with emotional and practical support for those bereaved by suicide
