In this issue:
Our last bulletin of the 2024/25 academic year, and thinking of past notices, the world of SEND continues to await some form of update from central Government about changes to the system.
It's been 6 years since a review was announced to look at the progress of the 2014 SEND reforms - that's spanned 2 Governments, 5 Prime Ministers, 8 Ministers for Education, 3 national lockdowns, and even a Championship for Coventry City!
Now reports suggest that in the Autumn, we will find out the Government's plan for how SEND is supported across education, health and care. Hopefully this will give a clear direction, for the short and long term, of managing the increased demand for services supporting children and young people with SEND.
Most of the information contained in the bulletin is related to things happening in the summer holidays, but we're always interested to hear about anything else that is happening. Let us know of things we can share with Coventry families by emailing sendnews@coventry.gov.uk
I hope you all have something of a break over the next few weeks!
Chris Firth
Manager, SEND IASS Coventry
