This newsletter contains the latest news and messages from Coventry City Council and information about local community groups and partners who are offering local support.
In this issue:
Welcome to this month's Carers' bulletin. May was an exciting busy month for carers' support. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress visited Day Break at the Carers' Trust Heart of England and promoted the Go CV+ offer that all Coventry carers can access. The Go CV+ card gives carers registered with the Carers' Trust Heart of England a range of discounts and concessions across a huge range of recreational facilities across the city.
Also in May we held a "Preparing for Adulthood" event, where people could meet the Adult Social Care Transitions and wider support services, such as the Community Learning Disabilities Team (Health), respite and day opportunities.
|

June, as always is our busiest month as we celebrate Carers' Week. This bulletin will give you a programme of events for the week, kicking off with the main event at the Coventry Building Society Arena on the Monday afternoon, we hope to see some of you there.
Please look out for landmarks across the city that will be lit up in blue, as Coventry City Council shows its support for Carers' Week.

May has been a vibrant month for our Young Carers, filled with meaningful activities, new experiences, and lots of fun!
We kicked off the month with a brilliant Money Matters session with Coventry Building Society, where our older Young Carers explored budgeting, saving, and how to make smart financial choices. It was an empowering session that built confidence in managing money.
Health and wellbeing have been a strong focus too. At Mosaic Family Hub, Young Carers got creative with making healthy snack pots, while at Woodside, we explored Healthy Lifestyles through interactive activities that encouraged movement and healthy habits.
|
|
There was plenty of friendly competition during our Big Quiz Night at Pathways Hub. With rounds full of fun facts, quick thinking, and team spirit, it was a great way for everyone to unwind and have a laugh together.
We also teamed up with Sky Blues for exciting Multisports sessions at AT7 Centre, where Young Carers took part in a range of energetic games and activities, building teamwork and having a blast in the process.
|
|
 |
Our Young Carers team proudly took part in the Leofric Lions’ Move 4 Fun event at War Memorial Park, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for charities across the city. It was a fantastic day filled with energy, purpose, and community spirit — made even more special by the attendance of the Lord Mayoress.

We're thrilled to share a heart-warming update from MyTime Coventry, a project run by the charity Local Solutions and funded by Coventry City Council. Over the past few weeks, our team has been working hard to connect with local businesses and organisations and are delighted to announce the first contributors to come on board! The team at Coombe Abbey Hotel and also Coventry RFC, are now working with Mytime to give carers a much-needed break from their caring roles.
|
Thanks to the amazing hospitality of Coombe Abbey Hotel, carers recently enjoyed a complimentary overnight stay with breakfast at this stunning venue. As one carer shared:
“Thank you so much for all your support – which forced us to take a break away. Lots of organising at our end to make it happen (dog, mum, child all in different places – a military operation), but we made it! It was so kind, and we needed that!”
One carer also enjoyed a sporting afternoon thanks to Coventry RFC. It was a fantastic opportunity for him to unwind, connect with others, and cheer on his favourite team. A truly memorable and energising experience!
The Mytime team are looking forward to meeting carers at the Carers' Trust Carers' Week event at the CBS Arena on 9 June between 2pm-7pm, so pop down and say hello!
To find out more about mytime check out our website.
Alternatively email or call 07411 111651… the team are looking forward to hearing from you!
