Welcome to the last Cycle Coventry newsletter of 2024. If you or your little one has unwrapped a new bike recently, then don’t miss out on opportunities to learn to ride in the new year.
We are delighted to launch a programme of child cycle training from 10 January at Meadow Park School, open to all children between 6 and 16. Places are limited and must be booked, with bikes and helmets provided. Children are expected to get the most out of the programme by attending more than one session, and 3-4 sessions are recommended.
Sessions on Tuesdays at Moat House are also continuing in the new year.
Both programmes are funded by Active Travel Fund grant from central government.
You said and we listened! We are trialling adult cycle training sessions on Saturdays at the Canal Basin. Places are currently available for Adult Learn to Ride (Level 1A) for complete beginners, and Adult Cycle Skills (Level 1B) for returning riders who want to regain their confidence on a bike. Booking is essential, and bikes and helmets are provided. These sessions are funded by Active Travel Fund grant.
British Cycling, the governing body for Cycling in the UK, is supporting Coventry City through a partnership agreement, funded by Active Travel Fund grant. They would like to know what support or activities best suits you and your needs, including women-only sessions. Register interest with them by completing this form and then watch this space for news on new activities in 2025!

We want to hear from residents, businesses, and organisations in Coventry to tell us what they think about a list of proposed financial savings that we have put together to help us achieve a balanced budget for 2025-26.
We don’t want to have to make the proposals but need to consider them out of necessity. All councils are facing very similar circumstances to bridge budget gaps.
Like other local authorities we have a legal duty to achieve a balanced budget.
No decisions have been made yet. This won’t happen till the end of February. The consultation will run until 28 January 2025.
Please visit https://letstalk.coventry.gov.uk/budget-consultation-2025-26 to find out more, take our survey or register for a session to hear more.
