Fuel bills are likely to rise over the coming months due to an increase in the cost of energy and as we use more energy in our homes as the days get colder.
See if you qualify for a range of help and support to get you ready for Winter by helping you to make your home warmer and more energy efficient, as well as helping you to reduce your energy bills. For more information and eligibility see links below:
Pension credit can qualify you to receive extra fuel bill support so make sure you are claiming if you are eligible.
For free advice on energy efficiency grants, fuel bill help and winter support payments, call Act on Energy on 0800 988 2881 or visit their website.
Act on Energy will also be at Foleshill Library on 22 October between 10.30am and 3pm so pop in and see them for free advice and information.
The prestigious title was awarded to the Council last week (11 September) at the Connected Britain Awards.
The award was recognition of the Council’s ongoing work to drive forward digital innovation in the city, making bold changes to create opportunities and improve residents’ everyday lives. This includes working to reduce digital waste.
Adult cycle training offers extended
We're delighted that our Adult Cycle Training programme has been extended to the end of 2024. We have also introduced additional levels to help people continue their training journey or accommodate different abilities.
We still offer our popular beginner sessions, but you can also polish your on-road skills if you are an experienced cyclist looking to gain more confidence in mixed traffic situations.

‘Learn to fix-it’ and ‘Doctor bike’ events
Transport for West Midlands has funded a number of "Learn to fix-it" and "Doctor bike" events. This is part of the Cycling for Everyone programme.
So if you're frustrated with friction or peeved with pedals, you can see if it's a simple job to put right!

Are you a business interested in lowering the price of your energy bills and reducing your carbon footprint?
The Decarbonisation Net Zero Programme team are delighted to invite you to the West Midlands Net Zero Conference, a key event designed for small and medium-sized businesses across the West Midlands.
The day will feature a small exhibition area where you can engage with local organisations, explore innovative solutions, and discuss the latest developments in decarbonisation. Attendees will also benefit from a series of presentations and talks delivered by experts in the field, providing valuable insights into achieving net zero goals.
Free carbon literacy training
The West Midlands Combined Authority is delighted to be able to offer free carbon literacy training to anyone across the West Midlands, as part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games’ sustainability ambition to create a carbon neutral legacy for the region. Carbon literacy training is developed to empower you to make a positive impact on climate change and help to influence others around you to drive action.
It is an opportunity to learn more about climate change and what action is required to tackle the most important issue of our time.
npower Business Solutions Foundation
The npower Business Solutions Foundation is a new fund to help create stronger, greener and more sustainable local communities.
If you’re a not-for-profit or educational institution that is at least two years old and based within a 50-mile radius of their two offices in Solihull and Leeds, then you are eligible.

Community Energy Fund
The Community Energy Fund (CEF) is a £10m grant scheme for urban and rural communities to develop energy services to benefit their local area.
The funding will help to kickstart clean energy projects including small-scale wind farms and rooftop solar partnerships, as well as battery storage, rural heat networks, electric vehicle charging points. It can also be used to fund fuel poverty alleviation schemes such as energy efficiency, retrofit, and advice projects.
The date for the next round of applications is 8 November 2024.
