This newsletter contains the latest news and messages from Coventry City Council and information about local community groups and partners who are offering local support.
In this issue:
Hello and welcome to this year's Autumn edition. Time really does fly and the nights are definitely starting draw in. We have included some important information in this bulletin about our Adult Social Care Drop-in, which is being held in Hillfields, key details about Pension Credit eligibility, the Mental Capacity Act and details about energy support.
Alongside this there are details about activities and drop in that Carers Trust Heart of England are offering as well as groups provided by the Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub and Myton Hospice.
Adult Social Care.. Find out more and have your say.
This will be an opportunity for you to come and speak to the teams and learn more about support options available through Adult Social Care.
We will be joined by our Financial Assessments team, our Telecare team, Carers Trust, Penderels, Act on Energy and a number of other organisations who will be able to give an overview of some of the support available for individuals and carers in Coventry.
Join us for a chat and a cup of tea and get to know the teams. Drop in any time between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 15 October at St Peter's Church, Hillfields, Charles Street, Coventry CV1 5NP.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to tell us what you think about our proposals to deliver some services differently by bringing them together in communities and developing One Coventry Community Hubs.
We want to provide positive and joined-up experiences for people accessing services, ensuring needs/ issues can be identified and support provided at the earliest possible stage and in the most effective and efficient way.
We are proposing to do this by making the most of our buildings and people – bringing services together in shared spaces whilst reducing the number of buildings we operate from.
Make sure you have your say in the One Coventry Services consultation and tell us what’s important to you. Please visit our Let's Talk webpage to find out more about our proposals and give us your views by filling in our short survey or attending a face to face/online workshop. The deadline for responses is 4 November.
If you’d like any further information or have any questions, please send us an email.

The Myton Hospice’s Patient & Carer Wellbeing Service works with patients, families and carers to support you to improve your wellbeing and quality of life. As an organisation we are very aware that family and carers need to be supported in their central role of caring for individuals with a life-limiting illness. Through our Wellbeing Service we aim to provide that vital support, guidance and information needed both to enable carers to care for their family member or friend and to preserve their own health and wellbeing within their caregiving role. Our wellbeing nurses are trained and able to guide carers through a structured carers assessment, which enables them to identify where they need more support. They are then able to initiate that support through our internal teams where appropriate and available, or signpost to the most relevant services external to Myton.
Referrals
You, your family or carer can make a self-referral by contacting the Referrals team on 01926 838889 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Alternatively, you can ask any healthcare professional involved in your care to make a referral on your behalf using the Myton online referral form via The Myton Hospices website.

Who is the FAB programme for?
The FAB programme is designed to support people aged over 18 who have a life limiting illness which causes breathlessness and fatigue.
The FAB programme takes place at The Myton Hospices and brings together small groups of people who experience breathlessness and fatigue.
The FAB Programme aims to improve your confidence in managing your breathlessness and fatigue, enabling you to reduce your anxiety, improve your confidence and regain some sense of control.
A care element of the programme is to have the opportunity to talk through your circumstances with staff and other people experiencing similar symptoms.
The FAB Programme includes practical strategies for you to use to help manage your breathlessness and fatigue.
If you are interested in attending a FAB Programme please speak to a health care professional involved in your care to find out if a referral would be appropriate.
For further information please visit the The Myton Hospices website.
