This newsletter contains the latest news about your city from Coventry City Council.
In this issue:
We need your views.
We're working with the Police and other agencies to put together the city’s next Community Safety Partnership Plan for 2024-27.
This plan will shape the way we all tackle anti-social behaviour and crime. So, please have your say on Coventry’s crime survey, whether it’s off-road bikes, e-bikes, anti-social behaviour or any other concerns.
It's been one year since our wonderful Dementia Hub opened!
To see what kind of impact the hub has had so far, we interviewed some of the people at the heart of it.
When the new football season starts the Coventry Building Society Arena team will be putting in place a short duration temporary closure of the A444 after games and big events.
After matches, the A444 Jimmy Hill Way, between J3 and Holbrook Way will be temporarily closed. Alternative routes will be signed, and you’ll be able to enter Arena Park from the city side.
The closure has been agreed following discussions with representatives of the Arena, the football club, police and stakeholders. It will help to ensure spectators can leave quickly and safely. The closure will be kept to an absolute minimum, with the road being reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
Sports Fest, the city's free, annual sporting event lands in Broadgate from 6-11 August and as always, will feature a huge range of sports and activities from local providers including tennis, slow Zumba, laser tag and wheelchair rugby.
Each morning from 10-11am there will be a quiet session where those who prefer a calm and quiet environment can enjoy the activities on offer.
This year's event also celebrates the Paris 2024 Olympic sports
If you need help with the cost of food, fuel, energy, bills and essentials, you may be able to apply for a Household Support Fund grant, which is available for Coventry residents.
The fund is designed to support households in the most need due to financial hardship, particularly those who might not qualify for other types of government support. This includes households who have previously been ineligible following receipt of a cost of living payment.
Starting in September 2024, our Adult Education Service will be bringing in some new changes.
The service will still provide hundreds of fantastic paid and free courses, however some services will be delivered in alternative ways.
