In this edition of the Cycle Coventry newsletter you can find out about our relaunched programme of adult cycle training, learn more about our fantastic Go Parks events, and have your say on your experience of using Binley Cycleway.
We are delighted to be able to re-start our popular programme of adult cycle training. We are currently offering two levels, starting on 11 June:
-
Adult learn to ride - for complete novice cyclists or those with very little experience of riding a bike
-
Adult cycle skills - for people who can already cycle, but who want to develop their skills away from traffic
|
If there is demand, we can offer training for higher levels. Please email us to register your interest via cyclecoventry@coventry.gov.uk
The ‘Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge – Paris 2024 Special’ is open to all Coventry schools and residents to enter and will last for 29 days from 9 June – 7 July. Thirty parks and green spaces across the city will represent the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic sports, and participants can win virtual medals by scanning QR codes at parks. The Challenge runs from Sunday 9 June - Sunday 7 July, offering a month-long opportunity for schools and families to stay active for free. This edition of the Challenge features a simple-to-use point and scoring interface that boasts a virtual medal collection and inter-family competition features via the Go CV system.

Previous ‘Go Parks: Active Schools Challenges’ have attracted over 100 schools and engaged more than 80,000 residents collectively.
Schools and residents can get ready for the Challenge by signing up to Go CV ahead of 9 June.

The University of Birmingham is carrying out research on Binley Cycleway to understand its effects on cycling and wellbeing. They want to hear how the local community feels towards the cycleway. This will be done in a focus group – a group interview involving a small number of participants – that will be carried at a place and time convenient for all. Participants will receive travel expenses plus a £30 gift voucher for their time.
