Coventry Cathedral marks 80th Anniversary of D-Day
On Thursday 6 June at 5.15pm, Coventry Cathedral will be marking the 80th Anniversary of D-Day with a special Choral Evensong.
The Cathedral and the city will remember all those who risked so much for the freedom of others, and will pray for those caught up in conflicts today who still await their freedom.
Continuing Coventry Cathedral’s ministry work for peace-building and reconciliation, the service will also remember those who are caught in conflict today, who are still awaiting their freedom, and have been separated by war.
All are welcome to attend.

Visit the Blitz Museum for FREE
Open Saturday 11am to 3pm and Sunday midday to 3pm
Something for everyone, travel back to wartime Coventry and learn all about life in the 1940s in our Blitz Museum.
Located in the corner of the Cathedral Ruins, the Blitz Museum is a treasure trove of 1940's memorabilia and artefacts. Visitors will learn more about the Coventry Blitz on 14th November 1940 in our period school room, and will then travel through a typical house of the time and learn more about life in this era from one of our friendly and knowledgeable volunteers.

The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge is set to return on Sunday 9 June 2024
This time we will be celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic Games with a Paris 2024 Special.Â
Those who take part earn points for each scan, and these points can be given to a chosen Coventry school. Schools are grouped dependent on their pupil numbers. The schools with the most points in their group on Sunday 7 July will win. Â
There are spot prizes for residents to collect along the way as well as pop-up taster activities in parks with the opportunity to try out new sports for free.

Supporting Carers during Carers Week
Upgrade your Go CV account if you are registered with Carer's Trust Heart of England.
Did you know if you or someone you know is an unpaid carer, you can register for a free Go CV card and be entitled to Go CV+ the highest level of discount for Coventry residents on partner events, activities and attractions?Â
All you need to do is register with the Carers Trust Heart of England who will provide you with a letter to confirm you are a carer then ensure your Go CV account is upgraded with your status to get Go CV+ level of discount. You can then easily upload a copy of your carer’s letter.

Half price tickets at Coombe Abbey Fishery for Go CV+
Go CV+ cardholders can benefit from 50% off tickets at Coombe Abbey Park Fishery.
This means day tickets are as little as ÂŁ3 for adults, ÂŁ4 for a specimen ticket and a midweek adult season ticket is ÂŁ25 with a full season ticket for ÂŁ65.

Extra lap for Go CV members!
Your budding rally drivers can take to four wheels at Coombe Abbey and drive a Mini Land Rover around a brand new track at Go Ape Coventry.
Adult supervisors can sit in the vehicle or walk alongside the vehicle. Training instructions will be provided before the activity begins.Â

Bands in the Park take place from June to September in many of Coventry's beautiful parks. There's a variety of music from brass bands to acoustic bands. There is something for all the family to enjoy on a relaxing summer Sunday afternoon and all for free.
The events will take place on Sundays from 2pm to 3.30pm unless otherwise stated.
The season starts on Sunday 2 June in the War Memorial Park.Â

Have you signed up for your garden waste bin collection permit?
The new paid-for garden waste (brown-lidded bin) collections will begin on Monday 3 June. If you haven’t already signed up for a permit, but would like to, you can pay the £40 fee through the Council website, over the phone on 0808 5834 333 or in person using cash, cheque or card at the Customer Service Centre in Upper Precinct.

A general election is taking place on 4 July. The election will be your chance to have your say on the future of the UK. So, you’ll need to make sure you’re registered to vote by the 18 June!
Registering is really easy and only takes five minutes. Visit the Government’s website to register now.
You can also apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote if you’d prefer. Visit our website for more information.
Lastly, if you’re voting in a polling station, you’ll need to take a form of photo ID. See what forms of ID are accepted by visiting the Government’s website.
