In this issue:
Hi, it's Dementia Action week from 13 - 19 May 2024, and we have produced an extra bulletin to bring awareness to Dementia and highlight all the support that is on offer. Having a diagnosis can mean that many people with Dementia feel isolated, lose friendships, and face the condition alone. Dementia Action week brings awareness to the condition and looks to support those with a diagnosis.
A Dementia diagnosis brings with it a huge range of emotions and can be exceptionally challenging. I know from personal experience how difficult it can be as my Grandma had Vascular Dementia. She was the "Dancing Queen" at any party and was a champion at Scrabble. She sadly passed away at the grand old age of 98. We know that having the right support at the right time is crucial to help the individual with a diagnosis as well as their carer and wider family and friends. It is really important to speak with your GP as soon as possible if you have concerns. Many GPs in Coventry have been receiving specific training in the last few months to enable them to diagnose Dementia in less complex cases. Please do reach out.
The Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub are holding lots of activities throughout the week, alongside the Alzheimer's Society and Adult Social Care, so please pop along. We would love to see you!

"If you’re worried about yourself, or someone close to you, then know what to look out for using our symptom checklist.
Additionally, share your diagnosis experiences with us, so we can show decision makers the realities and issues people are facing.
