Since 2014, all Local Authorities have been required to maintain a "SEND Local Offer", setting out in one place information about provision they expect to be available across education, health and social care for children and young people in their area who have SEN or are disabled, including those who do not have Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
Up until now, this has been held through the council website, but this will soon be linked directly into a new site/app, joining together with Family Hubs to create a wider information source for families in Coventry.
This has been developed following feedback from families that finding information was too difficult on the current site. We would now like to gather some feedback from families about the new arrangements and have arranged two sessions on Thursday 21 March to start this process.
The sessions will be a "drop-in", you do not have to book or be there for the whole time, and facilitated by Beebot, the company who are developing the app with the Local Authority, and staff from family hubs and SEND. There will be further opportunities to comment in due course.
The sessions will be held at
Woodside Family Hub (10am-12pm), Upper Ride, Coventry, CV3 3GL
And
The Moat Family Hub (12.30pm-2.30pm), Deedmore Rd, Coventry, CV2 1EQ
The aim is to create an accessible place for the sharing of information, but also to identify gaps in provision across the city to help guide commissioning of services.
So please come along, have a play with the technology, and offer your thoughts on how it might be improved before it is made widely available. There will also be refreshments.
If you have any questions about the sessions, please feel free to email victoria.castree@coventry.gov.uk
We look forward to seeing you there!
