The quarterly empty shops survey of Coventry city centre's prime retail area took place in January 2024, a total of 60 shops units were counted as empty. This means that the total number of empty units is one lower than it was in the last survey in Q3 2023. Compared to the last survey, seven previously empty units are newly occupied and six units are newly empty.

Centre for Cities has published Cities Outlook 2024 report this month, it provides the latest economic data on the UK's cities and largest towns, allowing us to see how Coventry compares to other places. This report focus on the economic performance of cities since 2010, assessing how cities would have fared had pre 2010 trends continued.

According to this Coventry has:
- Population change from 2012 to 2022 by 11.8%. Coventry Ranks 8 out of 63.
- Average weekly workplace earnings is £745 in 2023. Coventry ranks 8 out of 63
- The unemployment claimant count rate of Coventry's working age residents is 5.3% in November 2023. Coventry ranks 7 out of 63.
- Housing stock change from 2021 to 2022 is 1.3%. Coventry ranks 6 out of 63.
- Employment rate is 71.8% in 2023. Coventry ranks 51 out of 63.
- 89.9% of digital connectivity (Connections subscribed 30 Mbps+) in 2023. Coventry Ranks 11 out of 63.

The aim of this survey is to find out what Coventry residents think about skills training courses in the City. Skills/training courses can include: English, Maths, ESOL (English as a second language), Digital Skills (IT) and vocational courses such as Childcare, Construction, Security, Business Admin, Accountancy etc.
