Home Upgrade Grant Scheme
If you don’t have mains gas for your home heating, and an income of less than £31,000, you may be eligible for a Home Upgrade Grant (HUG). The grant can provide fully funded energy efficiency improvements to poorly insulated homes within Coventry.

Coventry’s Urban Forestry Strategy seeks to plant a tree for every citizen in the city by 2032. The Council is three years into the programme and so far, 50,000 trees have been planted across the city.
When we’re finished, we will have planted more than 360,000 trees in parks and green spaces around the city.
Over the next few weeks, our Urban Forestry and Ranger Teams are planting more than 13,000 trees and they are looking for your help.
You can join us in a park near you!
Trees are wonderful resources and have many benefits including improving air quality, boosting biodiversity and combating climate change.
All tree planting sessions are FREE and no booking is required. Just turn up and enjoy.

COP28, short for the 28th Conference of the Parties, began on 30 November 2023 in Dubai, UAE. COP28 is more than just a meeting; it’s a pivotal event in the ongoing global effort to tackle the climate crisis. This conference brings together world leaders and representatives from nearly every country, along with experts, activists, and observers, to discuss and negotiate actions against climate change.
The event, which was part of the Green Education Hub looking to promote concrete actions and solutions through education, was entitled Empowering Youth to Become Climate Action Change Agents and was attended by students and higher education representatives from across the world.
Prof Latham told guests that there is no better time than now to involve young people in critical conversations around climate change as they are the leaders and policy makers of the future.
Do you have a real Christmas tree this year? Why not tick another job off your to-do list and get your tree booked in with The Myton Hospice for collection and recycling once the festivities are over! There's no mess in your car, no need to book a spot at the tip or to chop your tree into teeny tiny pieces to fit in the brown bin.

Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) is relaunching after a £6million investment – with guests from across the world thanks to an incredible metaverse.
The AME's 'Faculty on the Factory Floor' base in the city has expanded thanks to the huge cash boost, with the new nearly 2,000 square metres of space boasting state-of-the-art equipment, new teaching and research facilities, as well as six new laboratories and a robotics and testing area. AME was born out of a collaboration between Coventry University and Unipart Manufacturing that delivers teaching excellence alongside the delivery of innovative research and allows students to learn while being involved in real projects being run by businesses in the city.
There is increasing concern amongst air quality and health experts about the impact that wood-burning stoves and open fireplaces can have on indoor and outdoor air pollution and your health.
As a result, the Government introduced new restrictions on fuel sales, and greater enforcement powers under the Environment Act 2021 and Clean Air Act.
The Council are also helping and advising people on the correct way to use their wood burners especially as we head into that colder time of year.
