CLAS is moving to our new software system on 1 December 2023. From this date onwards new CLAS applications will be processed on our new software.
If you wish to make a CLAS application after 1 December 2023 then you will have to do this via our webpage.
We have simplified the HMO licence renewal process to save time and speed up processing renewal applications. If your existing licence has had a compliance inspection already, with no serious issues, we will issue your renewal licence without the need for re-inspection. The renewed licence will still be subject to a compliance visit during the term of the licence. Our new renewal applications mean that landlords can quickly renew their licences without the need to provide any certificates or documents. If there have been any minor changes, these can be set out in the declarations form. Certificates and documents will be inspected during the compliance visit.
Renewals are for the same licence length. For example, if you had a 2 year licence and want to apply for a 2 year licence then you can make a renewal application. However, if you were applying for a longer licence length then a new application would be required.
We are continuing to make changes to our HMO application forms so please note that the HMO application form may change over time. We have also created a new application form specially designed for Section 257 HMOs has been introduced. The questions are specifically designed for the uniqueness of a converted block of flats consisting of only self-contained flats.
