There are 5 new One Minute Guides that have been created and published. These cover Gender Identity, Making Safeguarding Personal, Self-Neglect, a Self-Neglect Audit, and Vicarious Trauma. Each of these guides are live on the Coventry Safeguarding Adults Board website.
The One Minute Guide on Gender Identity is an updated document that now includes a 'gender glossary' with explanations of a lot of newer and more modern terminology.
One of the aims for the partnership is to promote the theme of Making Safeguarding Personal. In order to help promote this key theme, we have updated the One Minute Guide which can be found here.
The One Minute Guide for Self-neglect is another updated guidance, which explains about the different types of self-neglect as well as some of the signs that professionals may be able to identify. You can access this new guide here.
Accompanying the work around Self-neglect, an audit was undertaken, and all of the main points from the final report have been summarised into an easy to read One Minute Guide which can be found here.
The One Minute Guide on Compassion fatigue and Vicarious Trauma has been created to promote the wellbeing of professionals in roles that deal with hearing and dealing with the trauma of others. It differentiates burnout from vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. You can find the new guide here.

The West Midlands multi-agency policies and procedures have been developed jointly by the fourteen West Midlands Safeguarding Adults Board / Local Authority areas. The aim being working together to introduce a consistent approach and practice within the adult safeguarding environment. The Care Act, which came into force on 1st April 2015, is the most significant legislation on care and support in England for over fifty years. The principle that underlies the Care Act is that of promoting the wellbeing of individuals, and of making sure that professionals always recognise that each person’s needs are different, and respond accordingly.
Therefore we would like to raise attention to the West Midlands multi-agency policy for Safeguarding Adults around the West midlands. This document presents all the policies in place to ensure that multi-agency involvement in adult social care, and the procedures of how to put these policies into practice.
The document in its entirety can be accessed by clicking here.
