The last ERDF event took place on 15 June at St. Mary's Guildhall, Coventry. The agenda included presentations by Steve Weir, Head of Economic Development at Coventry City Council, who provided updates on the achievements of the ERDF Programmes and new funding opportunities. Additionally, there were inspiring case studies and Q&A sessions featuring MPL Fabrications, Purple Planet Packaging, and Fire Protection Coatings Ltd.
The event concluded with a networking session, allowing attendees to strengthen relationships with like-minded businesses and organisations.
We would like to thank again all the partners and attendees who contributed to the success of the event.
Circular economy: What are benefits for businesses and how will it be integrated into Coventry’s Climate Change Strategy
In the first part of this episode we speak to Waco Yokoyama, Consultant and Circular Economy Specialist at Gemserv. Waco provides a concise explanation of the circular economy and highlights the main benefits for businesses, including cost reduction, increased sales, and decreased reliance on specific raw materials. She also discusses how the circular economy principles can be applied differently across sectors and emphasises the barriers to implementation and potential solutions.
In the second part we speak to Bret Willers, Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at Coventry City Council who shares insights on Coventry’s draft Climate Change Strategy that incorporates circular economy principles for Coventry residents and businesses.

20 June, Coventry Building Society Arena
The UK’s biggest net zero event for business, the Big Zero Show returned for its second year running.
The Show brought together a remarkable gathering of 1500 delegates who were passionate about driving the transition towards a sustainable and net-zero future.
Coventry City Council was a partner and exhibitor of this show and we were delighted by the significant number of people who showed interest in our sustainability and climate change initiatives.
The Air Ambulance Service receives no government funding and relies on generous donations from the public and organisations. One of the ways we fundraise for the service is through clothing banks. With now over a thousand clothing banks each funding a mission for every 15 times they’re full. Organisations and community spaces with a car park can consider supporting The Air Ambulance Service by hosting a clothing bank, the reuse of clothing not only helps divert textiles from landfill but also provides an incredible source of funding to support our service. If an indoor collection point suits you better with your space, they can provide one on wheels to move around as and when you need to.
