A forward-thinking business in Rugby is securing its future after receiving two grants to go green.
The recent installation of the solar PV array on site will provide immediate cost savings of nearly £2,000 per annum. By opting to also have battery storage installed with the solar solution, Stonewall Group is able to use its own generated electricity at a time to suit them, which gives a further level of independence from the electricity grid and protects them from further fluctuations in energy price rises.
The Green Business team identified an area of inefficiency within MAS Precision Engineering’s manufacturing process, where the finished products were passed through a parts washer to remove excess oil. By installing a centrifuge, the oil is removed from the parts and this prevents contamination of the wash detergent. The waste oil is returned to the machines and then re-used. The detergent now lasts longer resulting in a significant reduction in energy usage.

We were able to support DT Performance Cars with a grant of £2,984 towards the total capital cost of £7,641, which helped kick start the first phase of their energy efficiency journey.
A comprehensive energy audit was carried out on site, which identified areas of potential energy and cost savings and recommended improvement measures designed to reduce energy usage.
Using the report, the business replaced their old fluorescent and high-bay lighting with high-efficiency LED equivalents. Overall, these improvements have provided cost savings of nearly £1,000 per annum, whilst reducing carbon emissions by over two tonnes.
