The quarterly empty shops survey of Coventry city centre's prime retail area took place in January 2023, a total of 53 shops units were counted as empty. This means that the total number of empty units is three higher than it was it was in the last survey in Q3 2022.

Centre for Cities has launched Cities Outlook 2023 Report, it provides a deep dive into the latest economic data on the UK's cities and largest towns, allowing us to see how Coventry compares to other places. This year's publication focuses on the scale and geography of economic inactivity across the country.
Centre for Cities Data Tool that allows you to explore and compare the latest economic data on UK's 63 cities and largest towns are performing against a wide range of indicators, including population to business start-ups.
Some insights for Coventry:
- Since March 2020, the unemployment claimant count rate has increased from 3.13% of Coventry's working age residents to 5.31% in November 2022. Coventry ranks 5 out of 63.
- CO2 Emissions per Capita (tons), it has decreased to 3.0 in 2022 from 3.65 in 2018. Coventry ranks 53 out of 63.
- Housing Stock change from 2020 to 2021 is 0.4%. Coventry ranks 57 out of 63.

Coventry inflation rate was 10.7% in January 2023, it has increased by 4.9% since January 2022.
