For action

Education Capital Strategy: We have been made aware that several schools have received FOI requests relating to RAAC (Reinforced Autoclave Aerated Concrete) within their building construction.  We are working on supporting these schools. If you have received (or do receive) such a request, please contact thomas.allen@coventry.gov.uk(Maintained schools only)

Early Years: Practitioners must administer the RBA to all applicable pupils in the first 6 weeks after they enter reception. Assessments continue throughout the year for pupils who join your school and have not already completed the assessment. Please ensure you administer the RBA with new pupils. Schools must store the assessment materials securely and confidentially when they are not in use. The materials will be needed again for your September 2023 reception intake. If there are any questions, please call the RBA helpline on 0330 088 4171 or email receptionbaseline@nfer.ac.uk.

Ofsted - curriculum roadshows for Early Years settings

Ofsted is running a series of Education Inspection Framework (EIF) curriculum roadshows for Early Years settings. Please note, there is a separate session for maintained nursery schools.

These half-day events will offer the opportunity to learn more about how we look at language and communication at inspection and what we have learnt about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two representatives from your setting are welcome to attend. Each person attending will need to register separately. Current Ofsted Inspectors (OIs) are asked not to attend this event, as specific training is provided for inspectors separately.

Please note that there is no charge for attending one of these events and spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please find below the date, session time and link for registration for the curriculum roadshow closest to your setting:

15 February 2023 - Birmingham, 2pm-5pm
