Data from Demography and migration topic and new Census Maps application just published

The Census maps were published on the ONS Website on 2 November 2022. Census maps is an interactive tool to explore data from Census 2021 currently including age, sex, household composition and migration in England and Wales. 

Coventry is a diverse city with a relatively young population. You can explore the latest demography and migration data in Coventry and its neighbourhoods. The datasets used in the map are available with the topic summaries for demography and migration.

A few of the key findings from the Country of birth from the Census 2021:

  • 72.1% of Coventry residents born in the UK compared to 78.8% in 2011. 
  • 4.5% of Coventry residents born in India compared to 4.2% in 2011.
  • 2.6% of Coventry residents born in Poland compared to 2.0% in 2011.
  • 2.4% of Coventry residents born in Romania compared to 0.3% in 2011.
  • 1.5% of Coventry residents born in Pakistan compared to 1.2% in 2011.
  • 1.1% of Coventry residents born in Nigeria compared to 0.6% in 2011.

Census 2021 first results were published in June 2022. The census happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. You can read Census 2021 on the Council's website.
