Colleges across Coventry and Warwickshire are struggling to recruit tutors to teach Trade Occupations such as plumbing, carpentry and electrician courses.
This is resulting in less courses being offered to young people and there is concern that there will be serious skills shortages in the future in these areas.
Glen Smailes, Skills and Partnerships Lead at Coventry City Council, said:
"To support colleges we are looking for businesses who may be able to release staff for 1 day a week (or any other amount of time). These staff will be able to share their expertise with young people whilst gaining a teaching qualification."
This benefits your business by providing enrichment opportunities for your staff. It also will support your future talent pipeline and give you the opportunity to directly influence training of future recruits. Read an example of the type of skills required.
If you feel you are able to potentially realise staff please contact Glen Smailes on 079 6782 0436 or Glen.Smailes@coventry.gov.uk
