Queen's Baton Relay visits Coventry City Centre

QBR map

As part of the celebrations for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay will be travelling through the city centre on Thursday 21 July. The journey, which starts at Upper Well Street and finishes at the Assembly Festival Garden in Little Park Street, also includes Millennium Place, Broadgate, The Wave, St. Mary’s Guildhall, and the Herbert Art Gallery.

In addition to the Queen’s Baton Relay, Coventry will also be hosting Laser Light City at the Cathedral. This will take place on Thursday 21, Friday 22 and Saturday 23 July between 10pm and midnight.

Both events are free to attend.

So that the event can take place safely there will be some road closures between 4pm and 7.15pm. The closures will be on a rolling basis, this means that once the baton has passed through a road it can be quickly reopened. Please check in advance.

You can read the full story on the website.

Go CV 20% discount - To The Streets!

To The Streets

Birmingham 2022 Festival presents A China Plate & Birmingham Hippodrome production

To The Streets!

An uplifting new musical bursting with ska, calypso and rock ‘n’ roll!  It’s 1963 and the Swinging Sixties have arrived: Tensions are running high in Bristol where the Omnibus Company refuses to employ Black or Asian drivers or conductors. Paul Stephenson, an idealistic youth worker, takes to the streets to stand up for equality. Lorraine, a teenager, newly-arrived from Jamaica, joins the fight and, in so doing, finds her voice and becomes part of a movement that changes history… this is a story of standing up for what you believe in and – ultimately – finding joy. You can listen to the fabulous leading actress here.

Warwick Arts Centre, Windmill Hill (outdoor location on University of Warwick campus) on Wednesday 24 & Thursday 25 August.

Doors open from 6pm (with bars and entertainment pre-performance). Main performance  starts at 7.45pm. 20% discount applies to all Go CV cardholders.
