The first International Children’s Games 2022 newsletter is live

Did you see last week’s International Children's Games newsletter? It was the very first edition! It covered everything from the launch week success to venues, a green Games and the sports.  


Go Parks winners receive awards

All of the Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge – City of Culture Special winners have now received their trophies.  

Each school that came first in its category was visited and awarded a trophy and certificate. 

The schoolchildren enjoyed placing their trophies on display too.  


SBitC offers CCFC tickets to new members of mental health programme

Sky Blues in the Community (SBitC) continues to run the MENTalk and WOMENTalk programmes, offering free sessions to all to help improve mental health through sport and physical activity. 

The sessions run in Coventry, Warwick and Nuneaton as follows: 

MENtalk  

Warwick: St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre (CV34 4QY) – every Tuesday, 11am–1pm.  

Coventry: Moat House Leisure Centre (CV2 1EA) – every Thursday, 12noon–2pm.  

Nuneaton: Jubilee Sports Centre (CV10 7EZ) – every Friday, 2pm-4pm.  

WOMENtalk 

 Warwick session: St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre (CV34 4QY) – every Wednesday, 11am–12:30pm.  

Nuneaton session: Jubilee Sports Centre (CV10 7EZ) – every Friday, 12noon–1.30pm.

CV Life enhances accessibility at venues

CV Life recently announced the launch of ‘WelcoMe at The Wave and The Alan Higgs Centre!   

WelcoMe is a cloud-based customer service platform solution that enables disabled visitors to plan personalised assistance in advance of arriving at a venue using the app, making visits to both centres simpler. 

Launching the app at CV Life centres was a part of ‘Go Connect’, a project by Coventry City Council and CV Life that promotes inclusivity and accessibility in sport and physical activity. 


Commonwealth Connections project officially launched

Commonwealth Connections launch

This month saw the official launch of the Commonwealth Connections project, with all Six Coventry schools that are linking with schools in Zambia to give young people knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth and its values through sports leadership and cultural initiatives. 

The six schools - Corpus Christi Primary School, Coundon Court, Earlsdon Primary School, Finham Park 2, Moseley Primary School and Riverbank Academy - participating in the unique project that is a part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, were joined by Paralympic athlete Liz Johnson, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Steve Frew and members of the Zambian community.

Get fit for free with Sky Blues in the Community

Sky Blues in the Community is hosting a free, 12-week project aimed at improving physical health and promoting a healthy lifestyle for both men and women, taking place at the Coventry Building Society Arena. 

Each session combines physical activity with educating participants on how to make healthy lifestyle changes that are sustainable while reaching personal health goals. 

The next session is on Wednesday 5 January, 6.15-8.15pm.
