December edition:
At the end of November, the International Children’s Games (ICG 2022) Official Launch was hosted at Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Host City Agreement was signed by the ICG 2022 President, Torsten Rasch and Coventry City Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Abdul Salam Khan.
The evening was a great chance to hear from the rest of the ICG 2022 Committee and some of Coventry’s well-known athletes, along with the opportunity for attendees to network and showcase their involvement in, and support of, the games.
We have been working on the Games with our partners for almost 10 months now and so much has happened despite the difficult circumstances we have all been experiencing over the last two years.
Already we have engaged with 15 businesses and organisations that will support the seven sports that form the competition and 63 sport events that will take place in the summer of 2022.
We are really pleased to see that 22 countries and 49 cities have already confirmed their intention of competing in the Games and we cannot wait to welcome them and their families to Coventry.
Coventry is committed to hosting the greenest Games yet!
Already the team is working to find ways to make the event more sustainable, from the fleet of electric vehicles that were used during the launch week and will be used throughout the Games' process, to the ICG 2022 pin badges made out of recycled materials that all Launch attendees received.

For the first time in the history of the Games there will be inclusive activity on offer to ensure children from cities around the world with additional needs can take part.
In total, there are seven sports: athletics, basketball 3 on 3, climbing, football 6 a side, swimming, table tennis and tennis. Tennis, athletics, swimming and wheelchair basketball will all be accessible.
Coventry City Council is always striving to be as inclusive as possible, partly as a legacy from the city’s year as European City of Sport 2019, but also due to the Council’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity in ensuring inclusive activities and projects are being developed.

The seven sports will be hosted at some the city’s best sporting venues including The Alan Higgs Centre’s 50m pool and sports hall, University of Warwick’s Sport and Wellness Hub along with Coventry University's venue; The Place.
All boast state-of-the-art facilities that athletes and spectators can enjoy. Not forgetting the opening and closing ceremonies! Both will be fantastic, highly visual and engaging and we will reveal the venues soon.

We are looking to get in touch with anyone who would like to get involved in and support the Games in any way, whether that is via sponsorship, donations, volunteering – we would love to hear from you.
The Games is a great international event that is created for the 12–15-year olds that compete in and enjoy the event. The children will make lifelong friends while all cities will have the opportunity to develop links between countries going forward.
Finally, Merry Christmas and festive greetings to you all. After another difficult year, we cannot wait to kickstart 2022 with our partners; MLS, The University of Warwick, Coventry University and CV Life by sharing our great plans and stories for the International Children’s Games and make the event in 2022 the best ever!
Wishing you all a safe, Happy Christmas and New Year.
