Autins saves £27,052 per year in energy bills costs with the help of our programme

Autins

Rugby based business, Autins, saves £27,052 per year in energy bills costs after changing their lighting system to LED lights.

Their CO2 emissions were also reduced by 53 tonnes per year. Green Business Programme made this happened by offering them a free energy audit and a £20K grant.

Learn more about their inspiring story.

Plastic packaging tax

A new plastic packaging tax will take effect from 1 April 2022 and will encourage the use of recycled rather than new plastic within plastic packaging. The tax will apply to plastic packaging manufactured in, or imported into, the UK where the plastic used in its manufacture is less than 30% recycled. Find out if you will need to register and pay the tax.

Ten green workplace tips for Christmas

tree
  1. Make sure you turn off all PCs and monitors at the socket before you leave the office
  2. Switch off office, meeting room and corridor lights, desk lamps and display lights as you leave
  3. Unplug any non-essential items rather than leaving on standby
  4. Turn off stand alone electric heaters at the socket
  5. Make sure you don’t leave any equipment charging needlessly
  6. Turn off dripping taps or report them
  7. Turn off printers and photocopiers at the socket
  8. Switch off at the socket any water coolers or vending machine
  9. When all your employees have gone home for Christmas, turn your heating down until it's just high enough to prevent frost
  10. Agree who is going to be last out and for them to do a walk round to make sure everything is switched off

Recycle your real Christmas tree and help a charity!

Christmas tree

You can ask “Coventry and Warwickshire Charity Xmas Tree-cycling” to collect your Christmas tree, in return you will offer a donation to The Myton Hospices and Pass The Smile for Ben.

Visit their website to check if collection is made from your postcode area, register your tree for collection, make your donation to charity and simply leave your tree outside between 8-10 January for our volunteers to collect and recycle!

Best GreenTalk Live webinars of 2021

Last week we sent out an email listing the best events of this year and asking you to complete a short survey to let us know what topics you’d like to hear more about in the new year. We look forward to seeing your responses!
