Welcome to November's Carers Bulletin. November has been a busy month. On 25 November 2021 we promoted Carers' Rights Day. Carers Trust Heart of England ran various sessions throughout to support the day and we hosted a session for employers to understand their responsibilities towards carers.
You might of heard on the news the need for some temporary precautions to be followed. With the emergence of the Omicron variant in the UK a new set of additional precautions are in place as of today (30 November):
- From Tuesday 30 November, face coverings will become compulsory on public transport and in shops. Not including hospitality.
- All international arrivals entering England must take a day 2 PCR test and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
- All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of their vaccination status. They will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.
We hope you enjoy the upcoming festivities in December and have a peaceful, relaxing time, this year hopefully surrounded by family & friends. Stay Safe!!

On Thursday 18 November, the Carers Trust Heart of England’s Young Carers Team celebrated Children in Need by completing a 7-hour Dance-a-Thon at their base, the Penny Collard Centre.
The adult wellbeing team made special appearances throughout the day to shout words of encouragement and keep the team going and were joined by a group of young carers to help finish the dance-a-thon for the last two hours.
The day was live streamed on the Young Carers Facebook page for the 7-hours, and between them they danced non-stop from 12:00 – 7:00pm. The team would like to give a special shout out to Stacie and Peighton who did not stop dancing all day!
The Dance-a-thon was in aid of Children in Need (who have previously funded young carers activities programme, and currently the Young Adult Carers Service, Your Future) and to also raise some much-needed funds towards their work with young carers. In total they raised £500 on the day which will be split equally. To find out more about the services available for young carers in Coventry, visit www.youngcarerscoventry.com
Without the current funding from Children in Need, the Young Carers Service would not be able to offer support and continue to make a difference to all aspects of a young adult carers life.

Get in touch if you’d like any information about this event – places are limited!

To help combat the effects of winter and the impact the pandemic has had, Wellbeing for Life and health and care colleagues across Coventry and Warwickshire have created an interactive life map to encourage residents to think about their wellbeing milestones.
Whatever age you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, it’s normal to need support and guidance from time to time, especially when navigating the challenges life throws at you.
The new life map is a one-stop self-help resource and shows residents how they can use the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, whatever age they are, and wherever they are on life’s journey with helpful signposting tips for support.
