Are you looking for ideas this October half-term?  Here's a Go CV special edition with some discounted and free activities:

Go CV discount on Roller Disco in Broadgate

All half-term week, SK8 House Roller Disco will be bringing the skates and disco tunes for all ages to enjoy from 10am each day. 

The Roller Disco will be a pop-up location for the Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge – City of Culture Special so customers will be able to skate and scan to earn 10 points for their school.  

There will be one set price for all customers at £4, or £3 for those showing their physical or virtual Go CV card. Sessions last for one hour.  

Skate and wrist guard hire are included in the price with skate sizes starting at a UK child’s size nine, up to an adult's size 13. Customers are also welcome to bring their own. 

The roller rink will be open 10am–6pm, Monday 25 to Saturday 31 October with last entry at 5.30pm and 10am- 4.30pm on Sunday with last entry at 4pm.  

A quiet session with no music or lights will be held on Tuesday 26 from 10am-11am for those that prefer a quieter atmosphere. 

The roller rink will be undercover to protect from all weather, with a viewing and changing area to allow room to get those skates on.

Monster trail returns to city centre

Monsters

The Monster trail returns to Coventry.  ‘Look up! Look out! The monsters are coming back to Coventry and we need your help to track them down.

The Monsters trail will be back this half-term with eight brand new monsters.

Families will be asked to take on the roles of Monster Detectives to track down the monsters and if they’re brave enough, take pictures with them.

Go Parks: Active School Challenge - free activities during October

The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge is almost halfway through the challenges and activities for the month.  

Thousands of you have already taken part in the Challenge itself along with attending the cultural weekend activities and visiting the participating cultural venues around the city.

There are still three more weekends of free cultural activity to get involved in.

  • Saturday 16 October: Parkour and more at St Margaret’s Park, 11am-2pm.
  • Saturday 23 October: Second World War themed activities in Whitley Common, 11am-2pm.
  • Saturday 28 October: Roman themed family activities in Longford Park, 11am – 2pm.

Plus, you can still enjoy everything autumn has to offer, with red leaves, shiny conkers, crisp mornings, light breezes and a change in scenery. Take a moment to escape the everyday and enjoy the fresh air with all the family in one of the 50+ parks that are part of the Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge.  Although low key throughout half-term, you can still scan and earn points for your school.

Go CV discount at the Pumpkin Patch

Join Coventry BID at Lady Herbert's Garden this half term.

Lady Herbert's Garden, next to Coventry Transport Museum, will play host to a pick your own pumpkin patch from 27 to 30 October between 12noon and 4pm.

Other activities include carving your newly picked pumpkin and face painting.

Tickets can be booked now and all Go CV cardholders can enjoy £1 off when using the code GOCV25.

Halloween theme at The Wave

During October half-term, why not visit the Wave and get discount with your Go CV card?  From Thursday 21 October you can have a splashing great time!

Also, between Friday 29 - Sunday 31 October there's Halloween-themed water park sessions.

Trick or Treat yourself with spooktacular slides, wicked wave pool and a scary splash zone.

Fargo's Halloween Makers' Market

Find a selection of monstrous makers and deadly designers for a fang-tastic Halloween Makers' Market this October!

On Saturday 23 October (a week before Halloween) independent businesses will create a Halloween special at FarGo Village.

The Market Hall will be full of some of your fave creatives so you can celebrate Halloween in spooktacular style from candles and needle felted pumpkins to jewellery and sweets - you'll be spoilt for choice.

Coventry welcomes 'Little Amal'

This half-term, experience the City of Culture's The Walk in the city centre on Wednesday 27 October at 3pm.

At the heart of The Walk is ‘Little Amal, a 3.5 metre-tall puppet of a young refugee girl, created by the acclaimed Handspring Puppet Company.  Representing all displaced children, many separated from their families, Little Amal will have walked across Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the UK, heading for a final event in Manchester, England in November 2021. She will travel a remarkable 8,000km in total, celebrating the power of art and shared humanity wherever she goes.

The Walk - Coventry Embraces

After walking through the city, Little Amal will witness the first Children’s Citizenship Ceremony and Celebration, designed by and for the young people of Coventry. 

The evening is a theatre performance in University Square, featuring sound, light and choreography.  The dusk brings a moment of reflection for Little Amal; she remembers how far she’s come from her home and how much she’s learned. Amal remembers her hometown and is reminded that she will always have a place in Coventry.

Doors open at 7pm for 7.45pm show.  Book your free tickets.

E-power Day at Millennium Place

Some people are happy to jump on the latest innovation and take a spin around town, however, we understand not everyone is comfortable with this. So why not join a safe trial day for free?

E-power Day event gives you the opportunity to not only find out more about micro mobility and how it could fit into your everyday life, but also trial some of these great new products in a safe, controlled environment.

Taking place on Thursday 28 October between 10am and 4pm at Millennium Place (outside the Coventry Transport Museum).

This forms part of #OurFutureMoves year of transport innovation.
