10 Things to do at CycleFest - Saturday 25 September

CycleFest

CycleFest is a free family event in Millennium Place, Coventry City Centre this Saturday 25 September from 10am to 4pm. No need to book, just turn up outside Coventry Transport Museum.

Check out 10 things you can do at the event:

 


1. Try a bike

Bikes to try

Try a bike in the Cycle Arena – but not just any bike: There are a range of bikes to try for all ages including two and three wheelers, ebikes, cargo bikes, tricycles, as well as adapted bikes from Midland Mencap’s Parkride team.   


2. Pedal Power Arcade

Have fun at the ever popular Pedal Power Arcade:

  • Spin some art
  • Race your friends and family
  • Make your own smoothie

3. Dr Bike Check

Does your bike need some love?

Dr Bike is here to help as part of the Big Bike Revival.

  1. Bring your bike to Millennium Place 10am - 4pm
  2. Find Dr Bike by the Whittle Arch
  3. Dr Bike will give your bike a free check up 

 


4. Bike Security marking

Protect your bike by getting it security marked by West Midlands Police and added to the national Bike Register from around 11am.


5. Donate a Bike to Refugees

Bike Donation

Bring an unwanted bike to CycleFest to donate to The Bike Project for reuse by local refugees and asylum seekers.

  1. Register your bike by filling in the online form 
  2. Bring your bike and its special B-number (emailed and texted to you) to CycleFest at Millennium Place.
  3. The drop off point by Dr Bike is open 10am-4pm 

Why not visit the In The City Festival in Broadgate and Shelton Square afterwards, which celebrates cultures through music, art, dance and food. (12 - 6pm).


6. See eCargo Bikes for Business

Come and see the eCargo Bikes that are supporting local businesses to make deliveries, including Esquires Coffee at Coventry Transport Museum.

Ecargo bike grants are available from Energy Saving Trust.


7. Find local rides and clubs

Come to CycleFest to find out about upcoming British Cycling guided rides from Coventry Canal Basin and Coombe Abbey, plus regular rides by CTC Coventry and opportunities to volunteer with VISTA Tandem Club.  For more details see the cycling clubs list.


8. Sign up for Sustrans Bike to School Week

Sustrans will be at Cycle Fest encouraging families to cycle and scoot to school 27 September - 1 October. Find out more. Families who pledge to take part are entered in to a prize draw to win a Frog bike. 


9. Join the Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge

Go Parks

To celebrate Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 the Active Schools Challenge has a cultural twist. Not only will schools be getting active by using parks in the city, but also by taking part in, and visiting, cultural activities and venues.  The Challenge starts on 1 October, for a whole month full of cultural fun, flash challenges and physical activity.  Get prepared and become a Go CV member today or come along to the Go CV Stall at CycleFest.


10. Visit Our Future Moves Exhibition*

Our Future Moves

CycleFest is organised by MotoFest as part of of #OurFutureMoves Year of Transport Innovation, which also includes an exhibition with cycling exhibits at Coventry Transport Museum until the end of October. (*Entry to the museum and exhibition is free for Go CV card holders)


How to get to CycleFest

Cycle Park

CycleFest takes place right outside Coventry Transport Museum.  Plan your route to CycleFest by bike or public transport. Click on the cycle icon to find West Midlands Cycle Hire docks near you. Alternatively follow directions to Coventry Transport Museum.

Cycle parking

Park your bike for free (10am - 4pm) at the supervised event cycle park on Hales Street near the Whittle Arch. Bring a lock for your own bike or use the West Midlands Cycle Hire dock on Hales Street.


West Midlands Cycle Hire - New offers

Regular users of West Midlands Cycle Hire can now buy minute bundles, which means there's no unlock fee whenever you ride. The cost of one minute of riding is 5p.

Occasional users can also save by hiring a bike 6am - 11am

New users get their first ride free (up to 30 minutes).


Last chance to book cycle training for adults

Take advantage of free cycle training sessions this month, choose from, Learn to ride,  Cycle skills and On road training - Book now

Get your Smart Light for £10

SeeSense

Last chance to apply to get a See.Sense bike light for just £10! The smart bike light collects data on your regular journeys that helps us to understand road conditions and where improvements could be made for people cycling.
