City of Culture - Coventry Moved by Bikes and Trikes!

Coventry Moves

Cycling took centre stage at the Coventry Moves event, with local pedicabs transporting performers around the city.

Cycling and Cycle Hire is built into the Travel Assistant for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 events 

Our Future Moves features a hire bike in the exhibition at Coventry Transport Museum until 31 October.


Children's Learn to Ride & Cycle Skills: Book now

Go Cycling over the Summer with British Cycling's free Learn to Ride and Cycle Skills sessions for children age 4-15. Bikes and helmets are provided. Book one free session

Learn to Ride - 45 minute session for children with little or no cycling experience who would like to learn to ride.

Cycle Skills - 60 minute session for children who can already ride a bike (without stabilizers) and would like to develop their skills in a traffic free environment.

Places are limited so please book early and remember to cancel if you can no longer attend.

Ready Set Ride

Summer of Cycling at Sports Fest: 27 July - 1 August

Cycling is one of many free attractions planned for Sports Fest in Broadgate over the six-day event for all ages and abilities. The Sports Fest programme provisional dates:

Wed 28 July: Go Ride Cycle Skills with British Cycling (bikes provided), and free Dr Bike maintenance checks

Sat 31 August: Wheels for All Inclusive Cycling. Come and try adapted bikes and find out about Cycling with Confidence courses or email Parkride for more information

Sports Fest 2021

Free Cycle Training for Adults: New dates & venues

Free cycle training for adults (16+) is now available to book for weekdays and weekends up to the end of August. Learn to ride and develop your skills away from traffic or build your confidence riding on the road. Book a session now.

The three types of available sessions are:

Learn to Ride – I have little or no cycling experience           

Cycle skills - I can ride but want to learn away from traffic  

On road training - I want to develop confidence in traffic 


West Midlands Cycle Hire - Free Skills Sessions

New to cycling or coming back to it?

Brush up your cycling skills and awareness, book a free two hour course with British Cycling at Coventry University on 12 or 26 August.

The traffic free session covers on-the-bike skills, rules of the road, safety tips and building up your confidence when cycling. 

West Midlands Cycle Hire bikes will be provided free and you can find more about how to use the scheme, including the first 30 minutes free ride offer for new users.

Summer of Cycling - Strava Challenge to win a bike

Vouchers

Register free to take part in the Summer of Cycling Strava Challenge and spend at least four hours in the saddle between 24th July - 22nd August!  It could be a big day out or smaller rides. You’ll earn a HSBC UK Let’s Ride Summer of Cycling 2021 finishers badge and be in with a chance to win brand new bikes worth £2,000. 


Summer of Cycling - Try Cycle Speedway

Coventry Cycle Speedway Club is a Go Ride accredited Club that runs regular activities on their oval dirt track, including a Saturday Club for Under 18s and an inclusive local league for all ages, which is open to new riders. Contact the head coach if you're interested in taking part.

Women's Festival of Cycling

Women's Festival of Cycling - Local rides

CTC Coventry is celebrating the Women's Festival of Cycling with a choice of easy going morning and evening social rides of around 10 miles.

New riders are welcome and it's easy to book online

Ride from Coventry Transport Museum to Kenilworth  (21 July) or try a City loop (29 July)

Ride from Caludon Castle Park to to Coombe Abbey (22 July) 

Ride from War Memorial Park and Xcel to to Balsall Common (Wed 28 July).

Women's Festival of Cycling - Win an e-bike!

Women's Festival of Cycling Riders

Log your ride as part of the Women's Festival of Cycling 2021 until 1 August for a chance to win a bike. Any kind of cycle ride counts no matter how far you go or what your motivation is. As long as you go out riding between 17 July and 1 August, alone or with friends.



Love Cycling? - Become a Bike Buddy

Bike Buddies pair volunteer cyclists with refugee bike recipients to go on rides together. See how Claire Balding got involved. The Bike Project aims to build confidence and knowledge of cycling, reduce isolation, improve well-being and encourage social integration & greater independence. 

  1. Apply to become a Bike Buddy
  2. You'll be asked to complete training
  3. You'll be matched with a refugee 
  4. You can make contact as soon as you'd like
  5. Then you can meet up for social rides together. 

You can also help by donating a bike or setting up a drop off point for donations. Find  more bike recycling projects

Lead the way - Become a Group Ride Leader

British Cycling is running free one day courses in Coventry to train volunteer ride leaders to run local group rides and women only Breeze rides:

HSBC UK Guided Ride Leader Training (18 Sep)
