The Duchess of Cornwall delights children and families in Central Library visit
Coventry’s Central Library proudly hosted a visit this afternoon from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall who shared her love of books and reading with local children and families.
Her Royal Highness had a tour of the City Centre library, hearing all about its past as an entertainment venue and how it now engages with all the city’s communities to ensure reading is available to all.

The Duchess of Cornwall visits Panahghar Women’s refuge in Coventry
Panahghar was the final visit of the day and saw Her Royal Highness visit the refuge to commend the support Panahghar offered to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Women affected by domestic violence and abuse over the pandemic.

New Lord Mayor starts year of office
Councillor John McNicholas has been inaugurated as the Lord Mayor of Coventry for 2021-22, Coventry’s City of Culture year.
Councillor McNicholas was born in Plymouth but moved to the Midlands and chose to live in Coventry to work at the Browns Lane car plant from 1978 onwards until his retirement in the new millennium.
John was first elected onto the Council as a Councillor for Lower Stoke Ward in 1986 and has represented the people of the area continuously since then.

Developer makes generous donation to local food hub
The Worldsfood Food Hub based at St Marks Church in St Michael’s Ward has received a much-welcomed donation of £500 from Farrans, a leading building and civil engineering contractor.
Farrans, who are currently building over 200 new apartments on Gulson Road, were looking for a way to make a positive impact in the local community. So, their Community Business Partner team contacted the Council’s Community Resilience team who helped them identify the Food Hub as a project they could support.

Our Future Moves
Coventry and Warwickshire’s world-leading transport innovation will be showcased during a year of celebration and activities, starting this July.
A range of partners from across the region have come together to create Our Future Moves which will run from July 2021 through to the summer of 2022 with a series of events taking place over the 12-month period – including demonstrations of the latest technology.

People of Coventry invited to play a unique role in major 2021 event
The people of Coventry are being invited to join together and play their part in the epic and unique final moment of Coventry Moves – the signature event for the year as UK City of Culture.
Coventry Moves, on Saturday 5 June, begins at 8am and will be enjoyed and experienced by the people of the city, region and across the nation online and through broadcast and will tell the story of Coventry and look ahead to its future.

A model of Medieval Coventry on show in Central Library
A model, that shows what Coventry looked like in 1509, has been created by Peter Garbett from Willenhall. It features some of the City's fantastic Tudor buildings, like Bablake Hospital and Ford's Hospital. The model will be available for people to see in the Central Library until the end of June.

Next week is bike week and there's lots of exciting events going on. From exhibits looking at Coventry's cycling history to workshops helping you to get back in the saddle for your commute to work, there's something for everyone. Follow the links below to find out more.

Stay at home if you have either:
- A high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- A new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly
- Loss or change in sense or smell or taste
