Celebrate the launch of the City of Culture

The wait is finally over. Our year as the UK City of Culture is here! For the next 12 months, we will be celebrating our city with events, music, dance, theatre and large-scale spectacles.

To mark this significant event, Coventry City of Culture Trust created a short film using the whole city as their canvas. The film took inspiration from the words of George Eliot, who once lived in the city. Her words have been set, spoken by well-known people from the city, to a new music track, specially created for the film by one of the city’s talents, Coolie.

Last week we saw the launch of two city-wide installations, The Show Windows and In Paint We Trust. These free artworks will be on display around the city centre throughout the year. See the streets of Coventry awash with colour as local, national and internationally renowned street artists are given access to unique and unexpected spaces, encouraging audiences to further explore the city.

We will be providing suggestions and updated information on what is available to you over the coming weeks. Keep an eye out on our social channels for content: TwitterFacebook and Instagram.
