Mental Health Leaflet - Please could this be shared with staff and families.
We have commissioned PeopleToo to undertake a review of the children and young people 24/7 mental health crisis offer. They will be undertaking a lot of engagement over the next few weeks with children and young people, parent and carers, and professionals. PeopleToo have developed a survey link for each cohort of people:
The next NQT course led by Blue Sky Teaching School is coming up soon on Thursday 25th February (1.00pm – 3.00pm online via Teams). It is all about Maths teaching in the primary school and is led by a highly experienced teacher and Maths Mastery Specialist. There are still a few places available.
Laura Stevenson, Vice Principal, Director of Blue Sky Teaching School.
Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) and Children North East (CNE) have released new surveys, asking families and children and young people from across the UK about their experience of this academic year. We would appreciate your help sharing these widely with your networks. These surveys are part of our Cost of the School Day project, and we are particularly interested in hearing from families living on a low income and those facing financial difficulties.
The surveys can be accessed at:
The Remote Education Working Group have met again to produce the latest bulletin.

There have now been over a whopping 10,000 entries coming from over 100 schools in Coventry – all in the first 12 days of the project. It's meant that schools have been excellent at encouraging their children to get out for daily exercise to their local park - and even the staff have been at it! Please see a collage of teacher 'selfies' which was part of a flash challenge to earn extra points for their school by getting active!
Last week's theme was Art - with schools tasking pupils to create a picture of their local park and submit their best pieces. The winners were selected and they have been highlighted on the Coventry Sport social media accounts (Twitter | Facebook | Instagram) this week. The winning pictures will also be on show in local parks so that the wider community can enjoy them!
You will also find attached the leaderboards for up to and including entries made on 9 February. Please do not share these externally – they are not for social media or for parents, pupils etc.
With half term upon us next week – it’s EXPLORE week. We are providing schools with resources so that they can encourage their children to keep active - whilst also allowing staff to have a well earned rest. The School Games Organisers have provided a set of questions for 37 of the parks across the city that pupils, along with their families, can get out and explore to get the answers across half term. They might have found out a few things about the local park that they didn’t know!
We're really keen to engage with any schools who haven't taken part yet as there is still time - please get in touch with their School Games Organiser or email covsport@coventry.gov.uk.
Our group of Trade Union, LA and Headteacher representatives has met regularly over the last few years to ensure that the workload agenda retains a high profile in Coventry. During this time we have introduced the Workload Charter which several schools have piloted and then adopted in their schools. Our recent meeting focused on remote learning, a workload survey to be used in schools, and putting together resources for schools.
If you have any queries or suggestions, or would like to join this group, please email Lucy Lambert (lucy.lambert@coventry.gov.uk). We would be very happy to hear from you.
If you have any comments, please let us know by contacting lucy.lambert@coventry.gov.uk.
