Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge

Go Parks Schools Challenge

As we're in lockdown once more, Go Parks is offering Coventry schools the opportunity to stay active and win prizes.

The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge is free-to-enter and open to all Coventry residents to enter and will cover the remaining lockdown period.

Schools will be in competition to gain the most points in order to win fantastic prizes.

All schools in the city can take part by setting their pupils home school activities and challenges to use their daily activity or pre-planned walks to the local park to scan the QR code.  Each scan of the QR code equates to 10 points for a chosen school.

The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge can be entered during a visit to a local park while following all Government guidelines from 1 – 28 February, running for four weeks.

Simply look out for a Go Parks banner or poster in noticeboards in at least 30 parks, then scan the QR code and complete the form.

Each ward in the city will be covered, but please stay local. Participating parks include the War Memorial Park, Allesley Park, Primrose Hill Park and Longford Park.

Full details can be found on the website.

'13 Ways Of Looking' at The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

The Herbert

A new exhibition has launched on Google Arts and Culture

After prematurely closing to visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 4* exhibition -       ‘13 Ways of Looking’ - showcases 13 artists and curators at different stages of their careers. They bring forth varied and multifaceted views resisting containment to one-sided perspectives.

The exhibition also explores different strategies of resistance that overlap and intersect in the physical gallery and online, challenging where art belongs, where it is experienced and who is addressed.

The participating artists and curators are: Hira Butt, Eddie Chambers, Sonya Dyer, Andreana Fatta, Hyphen-Labs, Navi Kaur, Shama Khanna, Roshini Kempadoo, Shiyi Li, Farwa Moledina, Keith Piper, Donald Rodney and Matías Serra Delmar. Their working practices bring forward international, multicultural, multi-faith and feminist perspectives.

Take a look at the exhibition.

Covid-19 lockdown latest

We know you are doing all you can to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in our city, but this is just a reminder that we must continue to make every effort until the virus is beaten.

Please remember the message of ‘Hands, Face, Space’ and help protect the vulnerable, save lives and support our fantastic health and care workers.

If we can all follow these guidelines and encourage our families, friends and colleagues to do the same, we will help slow the spread and that will help us return to a more normal way of life as soon as possible.

There's lots of information about testing, local restrictions and support on the dedicated coronavirus section on the Council's website.
