Local news

Coventry has been placed in Tier 3 – Very High

In September and October, COVID-19 spread rapidly in all parts of the country so new national restrictions were introduced. These have now been replaced with different tiers of restrictions for different parts of the country.

The tiers are strengthened compared to the previous tiers in order to prevent an increased spread of infections.

They go from Tier 1, where the risk of coronavirus spread is described as medium, to Tier 3, where the risk is described as very high. Coventry has been placed in Tier 3.

These local restrictions are on top of the general advice and guidance given in England on how to protect yourself against contracting the virus – frequent washing of hands, face coverings on public transport and within enclosed spaces, and social distancing by staying at least 2 metres apart (or 1 metre with a face covering or other precautions).

To help residents understand the new restrictions we have created an at a glance guide that details the restrictions. To download the Tier 3 'at a glance guide' please visit our website. A copy of the guide can can also be found at the bottom of this newsletter.

The Job Shop is still open

As Coventry moves into Tier 3 restrictions, the Job Shop is still on-hand to offer support to residents and businesses

The Job Shop will continue to offer face-to-face appointments to those who pre-book using their online portal, along with conducting virtual appointments using MS Teams.

With the inclusion of a digital service, job coaches are on hand to offer employment support to those in need via phone or e-mail. The Job Shop's money advice service can advise on submitting a new benefit claim or offer advice on how to financially navigate through the challenges ahead.
