Term dates 2021/22

The consultation has now closed for term dates 2021/22, and as the Local Authority, Coventry City Council is required to determine the dates when the school terms and holidays are set. 65% of responses were in favour of option one which has now been set. This option is most closely matched to neighbouring authorities (Solihull and Warwickshire) with the difference being each LA’s policy towards the setting of teacher training days. Each school will be required to set four additional training days in addition to the one set by the LA on the Friday 3 September.

The Local Authority are required to set term and holiday dates in foundation and voluntary aided schools. The relevant Academy Trust is responsible for setting the duration of the school year and term and holiday dates for academies and free schools. The Local Authority believes that a standard set of holiday dates adopted by all Coventry schools will be better for school attendance, the organisation of admissions to Year R/Year 7 and for parents and carers arranging childcare and transport. All Coventry schools are therefore requested to adopt the proposed term dates to ensure this continuity.

SEND support service - additional online training session

The SEND support service have produced a short online training session, which is freely available to leaders in early years settings, schools, academies and FE institutions across Coventry. The session, which is grounded in psychological theory and research, provides insight and practical advice on how individuals react to trauma, how organisations respond to traumatic events and the role that leaders can play to help manage this response and help their organisations to stay healthy, ways of promoting positive mental health within organisations, and how to respond in the event of sudden, tragic events.

Training sessions are delivered by experienced professionals from the Council’s SEND leadership team on the below additional date for one hour followed by a question and answer session.

  • Thursday 14 May at 9am

If you and/or a member of your senior leadership team would like to attend this session, please email us at BSCLimbrickWoodCentre@coventry.gov.uk and include the phrase "COVID-19 Leaders’ Training” in the subject line.

A member of our admin team will then send you a Microsoft Teams invitation along with joining instructions and a copy of the PowerPoint presentation which you can then share with colleagues within your organisation.
