Early Education Funding Claims Summer 2020

We believe it is highly unlikely that a proper headcount will be able to take place as usual in May which means another mechanism is required to allocate your early entitlement funding:

We will calculate summer 2020 funding allocations for school nurseries based on your spring 2020 school census data, which will be inflated based on the change in activity between spring 2019 and summer 2019. i.e. if total school nursery 3 & 4 year old hours increased by 5% between spring 2019 and summer 2019, we will apply that same uplift to your spring 2020 data, and then calculate the allocation using the new 20/21 hourly rates.

This approach should ensure that school nurseries receive funding based on up-to-date data which accounts for termly activity levels. It should also mean that all school nurseries get a significant level of protected funding which reflects generally expected delivery patterns.

The School Finance funding team are currently working on this data for all providers of Early Education and will update your budget shares as soon as possible to reflect your summer term funding allocation.

National Online Discover Arts Award programme

Calling all creative children in KS2! Coventry Music, in partnership with Arts Connect West Midlands, are offering the chance to gain a Discover’ Arts Award this term. We would provide children/families or teachers with an Arts Award Discover logbook that can be adapted to the creative activities being delivered in school or via online creative work and Coventry Music activities. We would then use the ‘Discover’ criteria to frame those activities and the children would achieve their certificates.

Arts Connect will provide the logbook with guidance for teachers/families, we will fund up to 50 certificates, and we will collate all the information for the certification process. There will be a showcase/celebration event in October/November 2020.

If you have an Arts Award advisor working in your school, then they can moderate the work, or it can be sent to Coventry Music for moderation. The children get a certificate from Trinity College London and a chance to take part in the autumn celebration event.

We are limited to 50 places on this scheme, so please contact Cathy Scott-Burt (cathy.scottburt@coventry.gov.uk) if you are interested in taking part, or would like to put some of your children forward. The deadline to express an interest in this project is Friday 8 May.
