We know a lot of you are concerned about how to manage admission appeals over the coming weeks. This is understandable and it is clear we need to agree a way forward which takes into consideration the requirements around administration of admission appeals, consistency of approach but also considers the current situation on Covid-19.
As I am sure you know, the requirements around how appeals are carried out are very detailed and failure to comply can result in maladministration complaints. That is why we need to ensure that any alternative arrangements are suitable but also flexible enough to allow appeals to go ahead if possible. This is why we are now working at pace with our lawyers to identify whether we can introduce emergency regulations and guidance.
We have agreed that any appeals related questions should be emailed to Queries.ADMISSIONS@education.gov.uk . Please only email if urgent as we will keep you informed as we develop this work.
OCR updates - 20 March
As of 24 March 2020 the Positive Choices office will no longer be open and the team will move to home working. In light of the current situation with COVID-19 there will be changes to the way that we deliver our service to young people, parents and professionals. Positive Choices will be delivering all interventions and group work packages via a variety of digital platforms including our social media forums and our YouTube (Positive Choices Coventry) channel which will be free and available to all not just our service users.
We are still accepting referrals and are in contact with all of the service users currently open to the service. A poster is available with all of the contact numbers of the team to either be displayed and shared with families that may need support.
Positive Choices are still available to attend any conferences via video link, available for telephone consultations and can still provide a virtual co-location if required.
To stay up to date with what we are offering please like, follow and subscribe to our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube channel.
