City of Culture meeting - 27th January

Chenine Bhathena (Creative Director) and senior members of the Coventry City of Culture Trust invite Schools Culture Champions to a meeting on Monday 27 January, 4.00pm - 6.00pm held at Coventry Transport Museum

We want to present an overview of the wider schools cultural programme in development, open a discussion with you around any ideas/projects/programmes you’d like to take forward that we can help with, and hopefully you will leave feeling better informed, excited and signed up to a fantastic project for Coventry’s city of culture celebrations in 2021!

Proceeding from your feedback at ‘the CEP 100 great ideas launch event’, we will be sharing our narrative and storyboard for 2021 – which will set out some of the themes we hope to explore in 2021. This is a great opportunity to share ideas, receive feedback and find new ways of collaborating. We very much welcome your participation.

If you are able to attend, please confirm by emailing coventrycep@gmail.com.

Are you missing out on funding for Early Years children?

On 9 January the Data and Early Years team delivered a briefing to school Business Officers in relation to early years funding. The aim of this briefing was to help colleagues understand the role of the Early Years Portal and SIMS to maximise early years funding into schools.

Last term approximately 12 schools did not log in to the early years portal at any point.  The outcome of this was that those schools did not validate Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) information or extended (30 hour) codes and therefore did not receive funding they may have attracted.

Briefing title: Claiming Early Years Funding in Schools

Fridays on the Road

We have been running Fridays from the City Centre since July and have worked with over 180 young people and reached over 4,000 on our @fridayscoventry social media. This year we are taking Fridays on the Road and our Friday Young Adults ( all 18 + and DBS cleared) would like to bring Fridays youth club to different schools between 6pm and 9pm on a Friday in February or March. This would be open to 11 to 16 year olds with a mixture of local musicians, karaoke games and confidence workshops.

Blue Coat, Lyng Hall School and Coventry College (Henley Campus) have agreed to host Fridays at their venues this January and February. Could we come to your school? if you are interested, please contact Tyler - info@fridays.org.uk
