Coventry Carers' bulletin

Welcome to November's bulletin

The festive season is upon us, but we also know that Christmas can be a difficult time of year when you're caring for someone. Public spaces become a lot more frantic and a sense of isolation can feel more profound this time of year. This month's bulletin focuses on what's going on within the city in the build up to Christmas, to make sure that everyone is able to stay connected over the festive period.

Festive fun for all the family!

Christmas can be such a busy time of year, but finding time to get involved in festive activities, like the local pantomime, can be great fun for all the family.

Two of Coventry’s local theatres are holding relaxed performances of their pantomimes again this year. By making subtle changes to the lighting and sound effects, a more relaxed performance style is created, which may benefit a wide range of audience members, including people with dementia and autism. Hence, the open and welcoming environment that these performances offer can enable the whole family to feel included in the festive experience.

The Snow Queen at The Albany Theatre – the relaxed performance is on 12 December at 1pm. Please contact the box office on 024 7699 8964 between 10:30am and 1:30pm to find out more and to book tickets.

Puss in Boots at Belgrade Theatre – the relaxed performance is on the 9 January at 10:30am. Tickets can be booked online, in person or by calling the box office after 10:30am on 024 7655 3055.

If you would like any dementia-related support please telephone Coventry Alzheimer’s Society office on 024 7665 2602 or email us on coventry@alzheimers.org.uk
